Meier

Created by: Skytown
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 18, 2023
Published: Jan. 18, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure how they would sign him next year, but Meier is apparently at the top of the list for the Rangers.

Does this get it done, or does something else have to be added?

I thought that, but for cap reasonings, I felt that moving $2.1 out was better than 925k

Rangers don't have between $8,000,000 to $9,000,000 per to commit to Timo Meier, So Drury isn't giving up Kakko for a rental.

Rangers are not trading Kakko or Laffy and any other young players for a rental.

No, a late first and Jones don’t get it close to being done.

That's not close for the Sharks to move him. With Kane likely out of the trade market, Timo's value goes up a ton.

People can say Kakko "looks good" but until he actually produces at over a 40 pt pace then he's just Puljujärvi 2.0, his value is constantly overstated. Sharks also have too many LD in their system so pass on Jones. I'd rather have Emberson plus a second.

Even so, I think I'd take a NJ 1st and Holtz over this.

Meier isn’t special. He isn’t different from all the other guys that have been moved at deadline.

Meier will not re-define the trade deadline market. He isn’t that good.

As you should. But at the same time, Rangers have 0 depth at RW, so can't afford to give up Kakko even if they would consider moving him (Lafreniere a similar story). 1st+Jones/Robertson+Berard/Chmelar/Vaisanen is probably about the best the Rangers can afford to give up

I didn't say that it's Meier redefining the trade market, it's that the top line winger market got more scarce when Kane's injury flared up. That increases the demand for any other available wingers, which increases their value.

Andrew Copp got more than that come on now. A late first and a third pair d doesn’t get a ppg player who will likely score 40 this year.

If you’re saying this isn’t enough, you’re saying he’s re-defining the deadline market.

1st, 2nd, 6th and Morgan Barron. He also had never scored 20 goals in a season or had 40 points in a season prior to the trade. David Savard got a 1st plus, Ben Chiarot got a 1st plus, Lindholm got a 1st plus, Fiala got a better return and the wild had to move him. San Jose isn’t take a discount on a trade.

It was two conditional seconds. No one expected that run out of the rangers.

He got a First, a second, and a young depth forward.

Meier is MUCH better than Copp. And the trading team would get signing rights with Timo, which if they can't afford, can trade at the draft/FA for assets back.
