A Possible Trade Deadline Target Part 1

Created by: Silent_Warrior
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2023
Published: Jan. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Part 1: Timo Meier
Timo Meier would be a good fit for the Flames. He is a scoring winger who plays a physical game. So far through this season the Flames have lacked an elite goal scorer and have missed the physicality that Tkachuk brought.

Meier is worth way more than that prospect/pick combo even without taking a cap dump back.

Calgary can't trade their 2024 1st, it's conditionnal on the Monahan trade.

Not only does that not get Timo Meier, But with less than $2,000,000 in cap space. How do you think you're going to afford to give Meier between $8,500,000 to $9,000,000 per long term.

This deal is so bad I'd rather Grier pay Timo 10 mil. It's not even close sir. It starts with Coronato+

If it is traded as a conditional pick then it can be traded
For example:
If 2024 first round pick is transferred to Montreal pick becomes 2025 first round pick plus 2024 third round pick

I'm aware the value for the example might be off.

You don't, you trade his rights at the end of the season.

Who the **** is the cap dump. It's not as though Kylington will never play another NHL game. Kylington can be flipped at the deadline next year for at least an easy first. Or he could be resigned and continue to play games for the franchise.

It's not a difficult idea, you trade his rights away at the end of the season. If this doesn't get Meier then Meier will remain a Shark. Kylington is a solid 2nd paring defenceman who is worth at least a first. Pelletier was taken with a first round pick and I haven’t seen any indication in his game that says he is not worth at least a first. Then you get a likely middle first round pick next year. That is the value of three first round picks.

Hate to break it to you but you're overvaluing Meier. Kylington is a solid 2nd paring defenceman who is worth at least a first. Pelletier was taken with a first round pick and I haven’t seen any indication in his game that says he is not worth at least a first. Then you get a likely middle first round pick next year. That is the value of three first round picks. In no world is Meier worth more then 3 first round picks. Not to mention one of the guys if an actual proven NHL player. If you think so you are delusional.

Yes I'm overvaluing the guy that's on pace for 40+ goals that hits, fights, plays defense and can handle large defenseman net front with ease. I should accept a B level prospect and a late first in exchange. Keep dreaming kid.

I’m sorry what? I like Kylington but he’s been awol all year. It’s also just not enough for Meier.

CGY could also trade/dump Mangiapane to clear space for Meier.

You're just ****ing ****. Pelletier would be the best ****ing prospect on your whole mother****ing team. That first is likely to be middle of the first round. You also seem to have forgotten Kylington.
