Why would DeBrincat take a discount? The Sens aren't even a playoff team sadly.

Seeing as he's 5th on our team in scoring I can see him getting paid less than Stutzle and Tkachuk.

Problem with Ottawa is it's gets all the drawbacks of being a Canadian team with none of the benefits. It's southern area is dominated by Toronto and Northern by Montreal. As a TB Buccaneers fan I've seen at Tampa Stadium later Raymond James Stadium what I've seen seen happen in Ottawa the opposing fans out number your own. So I doubt you'll find to many players willing to take a discount to stay on a team that is not winning and is sometimes the road team in their own barn.

If he is having a “Down Year” so to speak why wouldn’t he just take the QO and make bank in free agency next offseason when the Sens are presumably much better?

Hate to say it, but if he is having a down year...he'll just take his QO and play another year. Because it's 1 down year. Next year might not be and he'll get what he likely believes he's owed.

Nick Jensen for $5M?!?!?! He's 32 years old and let's not forget...he's been waived and cleared waivers before. Seems like an instant loss regardless of how well he's playing this year. Seems like Jensen is have an "up year" instead of a "down year"
