Most likely, Meier isn't getting more than Horvat

Is this really the year to go all in? All these additions and the leafs could well be their third best team in their division.

With it being Dubas' last year under contract i would think it is the year, i agree lots of strong teams in the east and the atlantic but they need to give it a shot, I'd put this top 9 against any of the big dogs in the East.

This package is comparable, i dont think its much more than Horvat got and at least you have some control with Meier being RFA even if the leafs have to flip him

Meier should be getting MORE than Horvat. Especially if there's an extension in place. There's several prospects I'd prefer over Knies so I'd be happy if the Sharks passed after the leafs thought this was too much and tried to downgrade this

Currently the ask is a 1st, A level prospect, and two B level prospects (or 1 young roster player with potential). Also Megna isn't just a throw in piece. He plays a shutdown role on the top pairing with EK65 and is making 750k for another year after this.

I liked Megna for all of the reasons you stated here and wasn't treating him as a throw in, i wanted to make sure to include enough value to get him too, both the contract and style of play i think would be something leafs would covet. Can pick whatever top prospect they want honestly if they are moving Meier to leafs they would have their top pick for prospect Meier is a legit gamechanger and something leafs need

I know that but I'm just saying that I don't think Meier will be getting more than Horvat. I think it'll probably be your package-Knies

Frankly, Horvat was the top asset that supposedly everyone wanted to acquire, not Meier. In that case, the max Meier get is a 1rst, a Beaulivier type player and an A tier prospect. Otherwise, the Sharks will be keeping Meier or trying to extend him. We are in a buyer's market and not a seller's one due to how valuable that 2023 1rst is.

That's definitely not true. It was literally just reported that there was one other team interested in Bo but Vancouver management liked the package from the Islanders so they took that pretty much right away.

Meanwhile there's reports of NJ, BUF, NYR, and WPG showing significant interest in Timo. That mixed with the fact that SJ won't lose Timo outright to FA like Vancouver was going to, they have the leverage in negotiations. Also add the fact that Bo didn't even discuss an extension before the trade. So that was a pure rental with hopes of an extension after the season. Also, until Tarasenko and Konocney are officially made available for trade, Timo is really the only Top line winger on the trade market, upping his value.
