If Sharks accepted this, Dubas is promoted and given a 10 million dollar raise, and Grier is fired.

Plus, they probably want a goalie prospect that is close to being NHL ready, so Woll or Kallgren, but Buffalo has Levi and the young UPL and are interested in Meier and NJ has Daws, so don't expect the Leafs to get Meier just because they throw in a goalie prospect.

I think it came from the SJ beat, but Grier is apparently shopping for goalie prospects. Whether that will be in the Meier deal though 🤷🏻‍♂️

As we've seen with the Horvat return, Sharks would want Knies back.

yes but sharks just moved Burns for a good. prospect goalie in Makiniemi, Gaudreau is in the juniors and was on the wjc and Chrona in the NCAA has looked solid. if they can get an Elite Near NHL ready goalie they would love to add that to the deal but should not be the main part. a high level 4 D prospect or top 6 W/C would be another option.

Besides your not even giving us your best G prospect here.

Goalies are all anomalies nowadays. Personally I think it’s more prudent to use assets for a bunch of B grade goalies than going for an A out of the draft. Especially with the Sharks’ rebuilding timeline

I’m not a fan of this deal for SJ though, so I’m not going to defend it. It doesn’t match their reported ask besides including a 1st rounder

I think Grier put that out there so that he could potentially get a good/great goalie prospect as a sweetener in a Meier deal if a team matches the ask or to at least get a team to match the ask. He probably wants teams to take the initiative and offer the goalie in a package in which case he'll ask for more.

So maybe they end up with a 1st+ A-level fwd prospect+a goalie prospect in the best case and in the worst case a 1st+ 2 B-prospects (with one being a goalie) or 1st+ a good goalie prospect+ a young established player.

I’m skeptical on a “great” goalie, just by nature of it coming with a premium, and most teams with a great goalie prospect aren’t willing to give one up. A high risk high reward goalie prospect is probably more attainable while still obtaining the full asking price

the only time I can see a top level goalie prospect being moved is in a Boston type situation where you have a goalie in their prime playing at a vesina level and a younger top quality guy who is coming off their ELC and in need of a significant raise. other than that it’s kind of unheard of.
