We have no need for Dubois right now, sign him as a UFA if we havent figured out our 1C/2C by then

Flames say No. (Sutter may say yes though.. Gross) We aren't giving you our #2 prospect to bail you out of that terrible contract, Lucic expires, makes less, and only has 6 fewer points. We already are cap-strapped doesn't make sense. We need cheap wingers for next year with the bumps in salary.

He doesn't need to play center and we badly need 1st line forwards at some point, but yeah it would be smart to wait and get him for nothing.

Flames have no need to move Lucic to get a guy with an identical Points per 60 and worse possession numbers, they would be essentially just be locking themselves into another Lucic situation where they are just waiting to get the contract off the books.

Brutal for Calgary. Josh Anderson's contract is literally Lucic 2.0

The Jets won't want to be stuck with Edmundson next year and say no to that one.

The minimum price for PLD as a rental next year has been set by Horvat and this isn't anywhere close to that in value. Easy no for Winnipeg.

You said Monahan wasn't a cap dump, and got a traded with a 1st attached to him
Kent Hughes already declined a 1st round pick for Josh Anderson without retention, so you can keep your bad takes with you
Who cares if you like the player or not, realistically, a GM could overpay to acquire him and a 1st isn't an overpayment apparently

Pacioretty isn't a cap dump either but Vegas set the market.

There is next to zero context on that "Hughes declined a 1st for him." Odds are pretty high that he declined 50% retention.

I loke Josh Anderson as a player, his contract is just brutal for what he actually brings in value
