Taking his entire contract? Woof, that's going to be a rough one.

Ducks would take Trouba for cheap, but both of their NMC basically guarantee we don't.

And his contract and awful 5 on 5 play are why we’ll never win a cup.

Ignoring NMC, I’d willingly do that.

I just don’t wanna see the 2010’s repeat themselves. Expensive contracts to aging vets is the easiest way to be mediocre. Rangers are literally repeating those mistakes.

I'm sorry, but your forward core looks HORRENDOUS without Panarin, same thing to a lesser extent without Trouba

Personally would take my chances moving him and another a quality middle six piece or two to provide more depth scoring.

People can still be bought out. It may not save any money, but I hate when people act like there’s no way out of a contract.

Forget depth scoring, you need more top end scoring lol. Without Panarin your top line would be Kreider/Lafreniere - Zibanejad - Vesey lmao

Did Trocheck disappear? Our best line even strength is the kids line. We need a premier shut down line and ideally 1-2 middle six wingers. I think Othmann can take one of those spots next year meaning we need to sign 1 more winger for the 3rd line.

Already too late really, might as well stick with these guys for the next 4-6 years.

Definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I think something should be done to avoid that. Doesn’t mean we need to agree on that though.

He plays wing as well. And Chytil has played well enough to be 2C.

Vesey is currently playing over him. Whatever, if he plays wing then you're 2nd line is Lafreniere - Chytil - Kakko/Vesey.

Woof.

Shouldn’t be saying so much given you’re a Leafs fan. You’re team has one of the best offensive cores and hasn’t even won a round. The Rangers literally were just in the ECF’s. So much for your high end scoring. That didn’t work out so well in the playoffs. A team needs to be solid top to bottom to win.

Ad hominem. Fantastic.

Believe me, we've seen how far well built teams with no star power make it (they don't)

You’re whole issue with this has been the Rangers fwd core. Which albeit takes a hit, but I think the improvement at 5 on 5 would more than be able to make up the difference. I think of it this way, with Panarin’s salary we could have Copp, Vatrano, Motte and still have some cap left over. Personally would take 3 good players over 1 great player. That depth would be far more important come playoff time.

My issue is that the Rangers forward core isn't impactful enough already. And you're taking even more away by subtracting Panarin

On a nightly basis, Panarin’s biggest impact is on the power play. It’s not 5 on 5. If he’s not producing on the powerplay, his absence becomes far more notable.

It's too late now though, they moved off of Strome but replaced him with Trocheck. Trocheck, Kreider, Zibanejad, and Fox aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If they buy out Panarin, it doesn't help them at all, and if they are trading him they probably need to retain a few million. They do need to replace him externally with a 7-9m guy, unless Lafreniere, Chytil, or Kakko start producing at a higher level.

Trouba is due for a new contract in 3-years but I doubt he is going anywhere either if it's the same management. He probably switches AAVs with and Shesterkin more or less. Their next opportunity to make significant changes to the roster would be by letting Trouba go in 3-years but let's see if they do.

They have Miller and Chytil who could get deals like you suggested but I feel like bridge deals will happen, and they will move Goodrow and/or Lindgren to make the money work if necessary. Who knows though if they don't win this year and Panarin isn't their best playoff performer, maybe Drury does try to shake things up, but moving him won't be so easy.
