Why are you trading for a guy that’s out for the year?

That offer doesn’t even get philly to return the call.

How did you find room to take on Nyquist salary hit prior to putting him on LTIR? Which you must do. I'm assuming you think he'll be ready come playoffs when there is no cap. The math says no.

Nyquist is gonna be back for playoffs, so he is gonna stay on LTIR until playoff. Then his contract's cap hit won't be an issue. He could be a great fit with cirelli and killorn on the 3rd line.

Flyers are actually shopping him rn. A former first round pick, a first round pick, a high potential forward who's top 2 in points in the AHL, a ok defenseman and a 3rd round pick. In my opinion, thats a fair offer.

Actually the math says yes. The word is that he is gonna be back healthy for playoffs. Until then, his contract doesn't need to fit in the cap. And you should know cap doesn't matter in playoffs.

Yes it does to acquire him. You can not trade a player on LTIR you must first activate him then the team acquiring him has to be able to absorb the cap hit then they can place him on LTIR. TB had to send Perbix down to Syracuse so they could activate Balcers from LTIR. Then they could waive/reassign Balcers to Syracuse. Then they could recall Perbix. They couldn't just activate him to waivers they had to have the cap space to do so same with a trade. SO yes the cap does matter

Again you must activate a player to trade him. You can't trade a player while on LTIR.

I could see the Benning trade, but the Nyquist trade is iffy. I don't think they'd give all that up for Konecny(and I don't think Philly accepts anyway), because Tampa can't realiatically afford him past this year. If Nyquist is sure to be out the rest of the rwg season but good for playoffs, maybe. The cap should be fine as he wouldn't have to be activated until playoffs in that case. It's different than Balcers and Perbix, as Balcers had to be activated in the reg season, thus necessitating the gymnastics with Perbix and him.

Your wrong you can't trade a player while on LTIR the player MUST be activated and the team taking him Must be able to absorb his Cap hit. Then he can be placed on LTIR with the new team so yes the cap hit matters.

Yeah, he's 100% wrong. You can definitely trade for a player on ltir. Again, in the Nyquist case, it looks like he'll be ready to go with ~2 weeks left in the reg season, so it wouldn't be worth it for Tampa to take that gamble imo. Benning for sure though would be a good add, and a F like Lafferty, Barabanov, Trenin, Kuraly, Robinson, Sturm etc. perhaps, as they would seem to fit in well, are relatively cap efficient, and have some term.

Seabrook.

He technically wasn't on LTIR at the time check the lightning didn't put him on LTIR until just before the season started try again. You can't put someone on LTIR that's already on LTIR. Forget Nilsson and Gaborik same thing
