Yes but that's because Calgary's 3rd line is the best line in the league and will not be separated for the remainder of the year barring and injury. Aho on the other hand wouldn't make Calgary's starting lineup and would almost certainly be placed on waivers right away

Detroit passes, Kubs is on pace for 58 points this season, Salo and a 3rd isn't enough. Kubs at 50% retained should return both a 2nd and 3rd round pick rather easily.

Ok lol, so in 23/24 who does Aho replace? Michael Stone is the only Flames defenseman who is a pending UFA and he would almost certainly re-sign with the Flames because he simply loves living there. Aho is a dime-a-dozen bottom pairing left defenseman. There will be plenty of players like him on the open market for league minimum this summer. Ruzicka is a young 6'4 up and coming 2-way centreman on pace for nearly 45 points.

One of these players is worth a 4th on the market, the other is worth a 1st. If you can't see that you are completely oblivious to player value

Isles could've had Kubalik for just cash this past offseason and signed him to the same deal Yzerman did and they passed. Don't see why they'd have changed their mind 6 months later.
