I highly doubt Yzerman will move Vrana for anything less than a positive return, let alone dump him... he took a calculated risk with the waiver at the time and it looks like it's paying off. Vrana was given an opportunity to get his game back (in a lower pressure situation), get his personal stuff sorted, and the Wings can continue to evaluate him with no risk. Worst case scenario, we go into next season and eat the final year of the deal(we have the cap space). Best case scenario, he returns to form and we add a 40-goal caliber scorer back to the lineup. There is literally nothing positive to be gained by the Wings dumping him, or selling low.

Nothing. We're now integrating our young players into the lineup. Guys like Soderblom Berggren, Veleno and Kasper need roster spots next season. We have enough vets to insulate them. We're not taking cap dumps anymore like we did with Marc Staal. Bailey still has another season left on his contract. We'd take him if he were a UFA this summer.

I agree that Detroit wouldn’t want bailey… but it’s cheaper to buy him out than Vrana…. So it makes no sense for the isles to pay to swap players….
