I’ll take a straight pick. Don’t want Walker whatsoever. The Sens need a top 4D. Walker isn’t that. And we can’t afford to spend money on a bottom pair option for next year. It’s JBD’s spot

Why would the Kings want another RHD? They have too many as it is.

Price has gone down with the injury, not sure you will get any other offers for him but from a team like the Kings.

Stecher and Edler looked good in the playoffs, there is chemistry there. It's insurance if Spence and Edler don't match up well.

Well I don’t care if it’s a 3rd or 4th but I don’t want Walker in return

They'd just move Durzi back to the right and play Bjornfot or Moverare at 2LD.

I gotcha. I think the Kings could get that much for Walker, so consider it a three-way trade if Sens are absolutely no-go on Walker.

Both have averaged pretty low ATOI, not sure they are ready to take on those minutes even being supported by Matt Roy. I think we are stuck with the Durzi-Roy pairing until the end of the season, so it's figuring out who best solidifies the bottom pair, and at a minimal cost/insurance move, I think the potential rewards outweigh the risk.

If that's the case, why wouldn't they just stick with Sean Walker?

Walker is moved to make room for Spence/Clarke next season, the return of assets are used to bolster goaltending, and see if we can use a Talbot/Petersen tandem next season. We need to improve Edler's game and hopefully pairing him with his old partner will work.

We also need cap flexibility if we obtain Talbot and when Grundstrom is available to come off LTIR.

It's trying to make minimal moves during the deadline to position us to have more options for the playoffs as well as next season.

If the Kings aren't confident in their RHD depth, they won't move Walker. As others have suggested, Talbot can be acquired for just a mid-round draft pick, so moving Walker at the deadline is not necessary. If the Kings want to move Walker for cap flexibility next season, they can trade him in the off-season just as easily.

Walker to Stecher is a downgrade, and the Kings aren't interested in downgrading their roster before the playoffs.

I mean yeah, this post was originally written if Walker (who has been reportedly linked to Ottawa) is traded for Talbot.

If we trade for Talbot just for a pick, I believe we need them to retain 50% to make the cap work. Which is fine too.

I do however see Spence (who I see as an upgrade to Walker) in the 3RD role, and see Stecher only as insurance, as shown above. So I mean I don't think my logic is flawed here, Walker has not been great and his pairing with Edler has not been great either.

Shouldn't be necessary. Cap hits are pro-rated at the deadline. Kings have plenty of space to fit Talbot in if they want him.

I don't agree that Walker hasn't been great. I think he has been an above-average 3rd pairing guy. If he was in the top four, the Kings would have some problems, but he's not.

I would replace Edler before I replaced Walker.

I'm pretty outspoken on that bottom pair, but I think going into the playoffs with Edler-Walker will be a mistake. Both have shown flashes of their former selves, but I think that pair just doesn't gel and I am less and less surprised when teams score when that pair is on the ice.

If it were up to me, Moverare/Bjornfot-Spence should be given more chances to play this season, but I'm just going off what Blake and McLellan have done. Conservative moves, moving assets to make room for others, and preference to vets over youth.

2022-23 GA/60:
Anderson-Doughty: 2.26
Durzi-Roy: 3.0
Edler-Walker: 2.85

2022-23 GA
Anderson-Doughty: 34
Durzi-Roy: 33
Edler-Walker: 20

If you're truly concerned with defensive pairs getting scored on, you might want to think about breaking up that Durzi-Roy pairing.

yeah I'm not really big on Walker to the Sens. he's a perfectly decent player but he's not the top 4 RHD that the Sens are looking for to pair with Sanderson. But his cap hit is a bit too high for the Sens to then be able to afford a better guy as well. Don't mind trading Talbot though, for whatever the going rate happens to be

Oh, that's definitely what I want. But Durzi has improved at blocked shots which is why I think has earned the minutes in the Coaches eyes. I was telling a friend Durzi might be our new JMFJ, he's such an offensive threat but so irresponsible in his own zone.
