Lmao, what? If Greenway can’t pull a 4th then he won’t be traded. We will wait to have his value bounce back next year to the 2nd round value he’s had literally every other season.

100% you should do this, He is a decent player having a really bad year.
but that comment isn't far off on his value this year.

Probably what it would take to get the Canucks to retain half on Boeser. I like Boeser, just don't love the idea of moving Addison to get him.

Would you rather have his power play assists or Boeser score goals? If Addison wants $3M in an extension (like in this example), better to move him for a top 6 forward and gain the value you have now with more D prospects in the pipeline

He’s essentially a cap dump at this point for MIN to fit in a top 6 forward. MIN can’t wish in one hand as they crap in the other like they did with Dumba until it was a day late and $6M short

As a Sabres fan I would be thrilled to get Foligno back. He could easily be a guy wearing a leadership letter next season. The only real trick is finding a roster spot for him without taking ice away from young players we want on the ice. You also don’t bring in a guy like that so he can ride the bench.

How about you forget about Boeser and add Addison to the Buffalo trade and I will add a Olofsson with 50% retained
Foligno Addison
Olofsson 50%, Philadelphia's 2nd

If VAN wants Olofsson at 50% in place of Addison, then sure
Foligno would be a great add, sort of do not think Karmanos would be willing to give up an early 2nd for his services.
Addison would be a great add, just do not know what he would cost, Olofsson at 50%, Ostlund one for one, some combination of picks, prospects and NHL players.
TBH Greenway for a 4th or 5th or equivalent prospect seems to be what Karmanos would be willing to spend this TDL.
Addison and Greenway for Olofsson (50% retention) and Bryson?

Cause you obviously don't think Olofsson fits, think you are selling him short and Buffalo really doesn't need to move him. With 50% retained Olofsson Is definitely worth a late 1st and a prospect. He could be lethal with Kaprizov or Boldy.

I’m not trading Addison, a guy with 4+ years of team control remaining, for basically one year of Olofsson at $2.375M when Minnesota isn’t in “go for it” mode. With Boeser, he has two more years and would likely re-sign at a reasonable rate to stay close to his family in Minnesota.

While I agree with your assessment that Olofsson would look good next to Boldy (he won’t play with Kap), I would need an asset with at least 2-3 years of control in order to trade Addison. Our 1st rounder is definitely off the table at this point. Our recent stretch has us looking like we are on the verge of collapse.

I’ll take my chances that Greenway rebounds. Get extra cap by trading Goligoski to a team that would actually play him regularly

Addison for Ostlund is workable for me. Addison+Greenway for Olofsson+Bryson is not.

I’m so glad MIN got that 1st for Dumba he was priced at for years instead of waiting so long that he wasn’t worth anything and ended up turning pucks over nightly into free agency… Oh wait! Goligoski = $2M and Greenway = $3M. Every $1M really matters for this team. If Faber plays well at the beginning of the year or you can find a cheaper 6th/7th D, Goligoski could be moved

So why did you sign Nick Jensen at $2.5M to be a bottom pair guy? Why are you paying Merrill $1.2M to be the pressbox guy? You could literally trade Goligoski for a 5th, Merrill for a 3rd, call up O’Rourke or Hunt and sign a 7D for $750k and save ~ $1.6M while actually allowing our prospects a chance to make the team instead. What’s the point of having all these LD prospects if they are never given a chance to make the team? You also overpaid Duhaime by at least $125k. Shaw overpaid by probably $200k. We could probably get Holl for $1-1.5M in free agency, maybe Luke Schenn for under $2M. That’s another $500k-1.5M saved by just being smarter with our money.

Nick Jensen would be a top 4 guy unless Faber tore it up (just dropped to the bottom pair when added and didn’t move him up), then you would let Goligoski or Merrill go. Find a better D for less than Merrill or Goligoski, by all means plug them in. You sign Jensen at $2.5M because it would cost you $3M to sign Addison and don’t get extra scoring. I don’t think O’Rourke or Hunt are going to be one of your top 6 defensemen and you’re not letting them sit in the press box. Cap hits for guys making less than $2.5M are certainly debatable

One of O’Rourke/Hunt will do for 3LD. What makes you think they can’t handle 3rd pairing duties?

I think the reality is that Boeser just isn’t a reasonable target.

I didn’t realize that Foligno was making $3.1 million this year and next year. Considering the struggles he’s had putting up points this year, nobody is paying any second round pick for him without significant salary retention, which defeats the purpose of the trade for Minnesota. Could he perform better back in Buffalo? Maybe. He could replace Okposo next season if Buffalo doesn’t keep him. But nobody should be paying any fourth line players $3 million.

Foligno could slot in for Okposo or Girgs should we not bring one or both back
