Ruins the tank and keeps the Habs mid for the next decade. Meier/PLD makes no sense to give up any asset. They will just keep them from bottoming out which is a must and their salary cap flexibility is gone which should be a priority as a third team taking on bad contracts the next 3-5 years.

This is going to be a very long rebuild in the toughest division in hockey with Ottawa and Buffalo coming on strong in the next few years.
