Maatta is on pace to tie his career best at 29 points, he's worth both a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

I don't think they'll send Byfield back to the AHL. They might not keep him on the 1st line, but he'll definitely have a spot in the lineup.

No one is acquiring Olli Maatta for his points production. He's worth a single 3rd without retention or a single 2nd with 50% retention.

That's the current reported ask from our insiders, Only going by what's being reported. So that hardly makes us delusional.

He's a middle pairing LD, Who's currently on pace for 29 points. And yeah middle pairings are worth more than 3rd round picks.

On Detroit maybe. Remind me how Detroit is doing right now?

Maatta would be a #6/#7 defenseman on the Kings, swapping in and out of the lineup with Alex Edler.

Yeah okay slick.

And Detroit is only 6 points out of the last wild card spot, With games in hand.

If Maatta is so fantastic, why is Detroit trading him instead of re-signing him? It's not like they're incredibly deep at LHD. They have Chiarot and Edvinsson (if he's ready) for next season, and they need to sign at least one more guy. Why not Maatta?

Yes a middle pair LD on a bad team. He's a 3LD on a contender just like he was the 3LD for the Kings last year.

I will not stand for this Walman erasure. Him and Seider are amazing together as the top pairing. Look up his fancy stats.

I assume the plan is to extend Walman and move Maatta, even though Maatta with Hronek is great.

They weren't contenders last year and he was still on the 3rd pair...
