No. Pickering's ceiling based on his skills and skating is a solid D first defender. He isn't a very dynamic prospect.

Pickering projects to be a 2nd pair defender with limited offensive skills at the NHL level. He isn't really anything special. Hallander might be a regular 4th line forward, but that's about it. Dumo is a cap dump and the first should be 2023. We just don't have good enough prospects to beat out other teams.

I still think the Pens make the playoffs, but if Hextall doesn't change anything it will be another swift exit. At this point it's likely we'll play either CAR or BOS in the first round.
