Description
I'm a little confused on VAN and what they want to do. There's reports VAN will move Boeser out for a 2nd or 3rd and they will buyout Garland this summer if they don't trade him. This makes me think a trade like this is doable. VAN gets a very good player in Mantha being misused in Washington, and will save SIX MILLION in cap space. So to me this would make sense but still don't know.

Caps in return get a shooter in the top 6. Though Boeser can't drive play one way or another, he can rely on Milano and Backy to do the heavy lifting. Kuz also get a huge boost in having 2 speedy, skilled, defensively reliable wingers that can also do the heavy lifting defensively.

I wouldn't be against it. I love Mantha and think he's better than Garland but Lavi refuses to use him properly and I like Garland a lot.

Only way that Van trade would work is if Washington added their 1st this year. Van won’t give up Boeser and garland for a guy who might walk this summer

Pass on taking both back. Highly priced middle 6 wingers are the least valuable thing in the league right now, no reason to exchange one for two (with more term). This wold guarantee Orlov (or another top 4 defenseman in FA) would not be on the roster next year

I'd argue both are top 6 wingers. Galrand is an amazing possession winger who averages over 50 points a season. Boeser has all the ability to hit 40 goals but needs a change of scenerary. Not saying he'll hit it here but very a top 6 player ability as well.

But you do have a point this screws up the defense starting in the summer, unless they move Kuz, which I won't mind if the price is right. I love the dude but he just isn't giving a **** anymore. I'd like to try him to wing.

My bad I thought he was up after this year but still can’t see Vancouver making this trade unless they get a 1st or if it’s just a one for one swap with either of Boeser or garland by themselves.

Makes sense. I'd still do it for one of them.

more a philosophical point but I think the way the league is going there aren't really "top 6" wingers anymore, but rather top line wingers and middle 6 wingers. Ovechkin is a top line winger, Kaprizov is a top line winger, Meier is a top line winger, Rantanen a top line winger. don't get me wrong averaging 50-60 points a season is good, but increasingly the best run teams are finding wingers off the scrap heap and giving them 1-3m a year to find that scoring -- Sheary, Nichuskin last year, Hagel, Marchment, etc. Once again I like Garland (and Boeser to a lesser extent) just as I like Mantha. They are all fine players. The way the league is being built though you really shouldn't have many of those kinds of salaries on your team. you're either a truly elite player, or someone else can do a similar job but much cheaper.
