what a horrific trade for the leafs. They massivly downgrade their defense and pay more for a much much much worse player and throw in a useful middle 6 guy on top of it for a late 4th rounder? awful

its not great either, he is on the bottom pair of a non playoff team and would cost the leafs 4.5 against the cap this year and next.

basically he is a cap dump and the leafs are not the guys unless they are retaining 50% and throwing in sweeteners.

Disagree, Might have been that last year, isn’t that this year, there isn’t a point in trying to get JC as we aren’t going to contend during this contract I would not be willing to trade our 1st, chances are its going to be top 6 and that could get you a heck of a player like Smith, then we use the other pick to get a defender and were looking good to go. I would rather use our resources like that as opposed to trying to be crafty with our picks and trying to get another defender. Our window is 3 years down the line, we need to build around the core, not around the extras
