I think Chicago declines. Namestakov is a straight cap dump. I don't think Hawks are going to put Lafferty in a trade line that unless they are getting guaranteed big value.

Names isn't having a great season, granted; however, i think Tampa could still get a late round pick for him or at worst not have to pay to move him. If worst comes to worst, they can waive him and save at least some cap, even if he isn't claimed. Lafferty is worth at best a 2nd+later pick or equivalent type player/prospect, so it's not as though Tampa's offer is lowballing them here. I could see Tampa paying a 2nd+a 4th+Names perhaps, but Lafferty isn't worth a 1st or higher level prospect imo. Tampa can look elsewhere if Chicago wants an astronomical return on him.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if another team beats this in a bidding war for him. While he'd be a good fit on Tampa's 3rd line, he doesn't fit the kind of target that Brisebois usually goes after(in that Tampa rarely pays high prices for rentals they'll be unable to re-sign, with Savard being the one exception in the last 5 years). I mainly wanted to see if Tampa could feasibly make all the trades work with the cap and what they'd have to likely give up.

I agree with what you are saying about Lafferty value, that's why I'd think they put him in separate deal. I have thought about Hawks taking Names though fir a small price.
