Chicago 2023-24 with Bedard Kane and Muscle

Created by: boilermaker
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2023
Published: Feb. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Chicago fortunate to win the Bedard sweepstakes.
Kane not traded at the 2023 TDL, becomes a UFA, and decides to extend with Chicago when Bedard is drafted.
Toews not traded at the TDL either, announces his retirement and finishes his career with Chicago.
Hawks make a couple of minor 2023 TDL trades and obtain some picks and cap dumps, one of which is Puljujarvi, who is qualified at $3,000,000. Foegele obtained in the same trade is bought out or waived.
Chicago decides to add some muscle via free agency and a trade. The thought process being if anyone goes after Bedard, there will be retaliation on 2 or 3 of your guys.
Chicago goes young on defense by regularly playing 4 of their prospects.
Expect a lot of 6-5 games with Bedard/Kane generating the offense so bet the over on Chicago games.

Capitals are very thin on defense going into the 2023-2024 season and are in cap trouble. Chicago helps them out by trading two LD in return for Wilson's cap hit. Capitals get some help on the blue line and about $2,000,000 in cap savings. Wilson adds some physicality to Chicago's roster. Too much or too little from either side?

Horrible for Washington, there's no better way to say it. Wilson (once he's healthy again), will be a 1st line winger, and Washington already has Fehervary, Orlov, and Alexeyev who will likely be back for next season. Caleb Jones does nothing for the team and McCabe is not a need with the LD currently in the system, Chicago would have to pay a lot more than that for Wilson (who Washington isn't likely trading anyway)

Wilson is untouchable on the caps. He sure isn't a fourth liner

The washington trade would never happen, Wilson isn't a cap dump.

The defense is a mess. Regula is solid and will play up and get his chance likely. Maatta? Why when we trade McCabe would we do that? The point of trading McCabe is to make room for the young guys not bring in another vet.

Wilson is a top line winger. It will also take a disgusting overpay to get him, its unlikely he is ever traded

Thanks to all for the feedback on the Wilson trade. Back to the drawing board. But if you need a veteran D in McCabe down the road, let Chicago know.

I got the message about Wilson. Not a good proposal on my part.

Regarding Regula, somehow I accidentally buried him and couldn't retract it.

The proposed roster already has Mitchell, Roos, Vlasic and Phillips playing regularly. Without McCabe and Murphy, I added Maatta as a veteran placeholder for a year. He could be replaced with either Jack Johnson or Tinordi, or another cheap UFA defenseman.

Also, there is some speculation Korchinski will come up....I don't like it as I'm fine with him fine tuning his skills in the juniors, but the rumor is he might be brought up to the pros which means the Hawks.

      Maybe something similar from Buffalo
But probably not the Philly 2nd
Likely have to settle for the BUF or VGK pick
