Leafs have absolutely no desire to have Parayko for seven full seasons at his age and cap.
Yes the trade would help the Leafs for this season, but Leafs are much better off with 1.4m Sandin and 5.1m in cap next season (and the two picks)

I agree, huge short term fix. How often tho are we sitting here hating that they don't have a big RHD?

But you have to remember that Holl Engvall and kerfoot are expiring next year and to be frank, the acquisition of Timmins sets you up better than Sandin. I feel Leafs locking up Rielly long term really doesn't leave alot of room for Sandin. They need big shut down guys.

This is very much a "win now, figure it out later" kinda deal

Sorry, an seven year contract starting next summer just isn't a figure out next year. Although Leafs fans tend to hate their own especially RHD, is that much love warranted for Parayko? Big shut down guys.....well you've exchanged Sandin and Parayko who have similar offensive numbers but the difference in plus/minus is 22 favouring Sandin. So who is the shutdown guy?

Sorry that doesn't make sense saying just because the Leafs have Reilly there isn't for Sandin. If Reilly plays 24m a game, elevated for his PP time, that leaves 17m a game for others two LHD.

Leafs are 6th in league in GAA. Gee they are better than the Canes and Tampa. Maybe those two teams should be looking for shut down Dmen.

Can't even imagine why Talbot would be involved in this.

tears of joy

Are you actually being serious with this right now? You ask a lot of easy questions you already know the answer to but won't admit for some reason. Pair Sandin with Nick "the human disaster movie" Leddy and them make him play 24 hardest possible minutes instead of a floppy 18. We can discuss mistakes committed this season and whatnot, but as far as total volume of things stopped, Parayko still ranks top 20 among all NHL D-man for sure, if not actually top 10. Oh and, "offense" doesn't just means points. You guys acting like he's some work out slob would all be hailing him for Norris (a ka overcompensating the other way) if he ever showed up in a Leafs sweater.

agreed. I look at it as a similar deal with Brodie... how many ppl chirped that original signing and look at what he brings. Parayko won't give you a noris but he will be very close to what you lose in a Muzzin
