IMO it's fair both teams take a gamble on one year deals. Both teams can let them walk if it doesn't work but Oilers need cap and getting anything for a guy who cleared waivers would maybe give a slight edge short term to the Oil. But PJ is done in Edmonton and I do think the Canes could get the most out of him.

Isn't Kase like done? He has had concussion issues likely to never play an NHL game again. Seems like only thing Oilers get is cap space.

I vote no. Puljujarvi doesn’t do anything for the canes this season

Personally, I’m not opposed to the trade, but it doesn’t make much sense for the Canes right now. With Kase on the shelf for the remainder of the year, the Canes have a total of just under 11mil worth of LTIR relief. They could make a couple of big moves with that flexibility, whereas, assuming JP clears waivers for Edmonton, the Canes would still have to eat his buried penalty this year. If I’m Waddell, I’m heavily looking at JP as a signing for next season, as a cheaper replacement for Fast, since he won’t be qualified by Edmonton.

Kase may be physically done but JP is on the next flight to Finland
