As much as I'd love this for Nashville, it simply wouldn't happen.

Fair, I originally had Ekholm with some money retained which is why I gave up so much

Ekholm at anything more than 4 million is a bad contract for the Leafs. He just isn't worth as much as he makes and TO can't afford to overpay a depth defenceman.

21+ minutes a night and 30-40pts a season for a primarily shutdown defenseman isn't "depth".

Has scored 40 points once in his career and is on pace for less than 30 this season. He's not getting better and at 6.25 million he isn't good enough to pay that much too. Keep him
