That Caps trade needs to change.

Jensen (top pairing defensive defensemen on the cheap) = 1st
Dowd (elite 4C, that was a top 10 GAR player this season and is on a great contract through the next 2 seasons) = 2nd+3rd
Hathaway (elite 4th line winger that plays playoff hockey) = 2nd

Hirvonen is a fine start but need to build from that. Kressler and 4th are useless so throw those out. Caps don't need Kerfoot but can take him to make the numbers work but that will cost some too. So maybe: 2024 1st+2026 2nd+2024 3rd+HIrvonen.

Hehehehehehe....I've never seen anyone use the term "elite" fo a 4C before. Then you did it again for a 4th line winger!! And Jensen (a pending UFA who will be 33 before next season) is no top pairing D-man.

Not that I think the Caps are entertaining trading these guys, but nobody is offering what you suggest they're worth. That said, this offer from the Leafs isn't enough.

Wow, good luck getting anything close to that for those players lol. Tell me you're a homer without telling me you're a crazy homer.

Should the Caps choose to sell this deadline, they'll be looking for much more than that offer. I doubt Dowd is on the table given his cheap and extended contract (also plays 2nd line minutes at this point) since Washington will be headed for a re-tool and contend next year instead of a rebuild, Jensen would be worth at least 1st rounder (Chiarot and Savard went for that as worse defensemen, Jensen is on a 2.5 mil deal playing 1st pair minutes half the season with amazing analytics and eye test), and Hathaway would likely be around a 3rd rounder.

Hirvonen is someone I find it hard to get excited for, but regardless of my feelings on the matter, I believe the Capitals will be looking for picks, and nothing in that offer is worthy of comparing to a 1st rounder, so Washington would not accept that, especially when throwing in Dowd.

Jensene is a top pairing defensemen making nothing. He's 9th in GAR the last 3 seasons. Chariot, Savard got 1st last year and there's talk Gavrikov and Edmundson will get 1st this year. Jensene is muuuuuuuch better than all of them so Jensen EASILY gets a 1st.

Caps won't be trading Dowd but he's the best 4C in the leauge that was top 10 GAR in forwards before he was a top 10 GAR forward this season before he got hurt. And he's on a fanastic deal. He'll easily get a 2nd, maybe an extra 3rd is too much. But again, Caps aren't trading him.

Hathaway is one the highest hitting forwards in the league, has great possession numbers, and plays old school hockey that GMs drool over. He'd also get a 2nd.

Using your logic, Luke Schenn (tied for 35th in Even Strength Points, leads the league in hits by a wide margin, and is a +9 on a crappy team) should pull a 1st easily. Well.....we're about to see if this logic holds true in real life.

Well Schenn sucks so that's why he won't get one. Hathaway is actually really freakn good.
