I agree the habs are getting a lot older with the LAK trade, but I think it would be the only reason LA would do this deal for giving up a top 6 center and top 4 D.

Long term view, the Kings would be silly to not doing trade, but the Kings are in win now mode like the Habs. They need to keep Carter and Trade Muzz for another scorer like a Drouin/Kane type. I like the trade otherwise.

do you think that you can get Drouin for Muzzin straight?

interesting idea! but LA would need to shed salary still to afford to sign Drouin, even with Muzzin's $4mil off their cap

That's a question I've been wondering about for the past two months haha. I don't know. I'd imagine not, with a 2nd pick and a middling prospect being thrown in. Another option for Drouin would be Martinez and a first, maybe swap some other prospects/picks.

No way in my opinion LA does that. Carter is our leading goal scorer and we desperately need help for that. Galchunuk has potential but he hasn't proved that yet and he isn't that much of a goal scorer. Muzzin for beaulieu and byron and a second would not work in fact thats not even close. If we trade muzzin it has to be for drouin or someone who is young with a great offensive game. Now if we do this deal it would be like this in my opinion:
Galchunuk,scherbek,1st, and a top 4 potential dman and possibly even more.

Chuky is a proven goal scorer, in fact, that's all he does. he just hasn't proven to do anything else. If LA are in a win now mode , than you are correct in that this deal does nothing for them, but if they wish to retool and get younger on the fly, I personally think this is a steal for them.

I've seen reports of talks between Tampa and LA and they say that if it happened it would be Muzzin for Drouin and they would work out minor pieces. Doesn't sound like LA would have to give up too much more (especially since Tampa and Drouin haven't even started negotiations for another contract)
