1.
NYR
  1. Nyquist, Gustav
Additional Details:
A scoring winger with a history with Mika Zibanejad, injury history is troubling and analytics isnt great but a good option nonetheless and one that wouldnt be a concern cap wise
CBJ
  1. 2023 6th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Becomes a 2nd if Nyquist plays in 50% of games
Becomes a 3rd if Nyquist plays in 33% of games
2.
NYR
    Kane at 25%

Ok elephant in the room, I just straight up cant see this happening, the only way it could happen is if the rangers waive both Harpur and Leschyshyn and trade Kravtsov to make the cap work and that would mean the rangers playing the rest of the season with 12F and 6D so if someone gets injured there is no call ups that could happen. And thats putting aside the whole analytical debate around Kane
    CHI
    1. Kravtsov, Vitali

    NYR
    1. Domi, Max ($1,500,000 retained)

You’ll have yo pay a price close to ROR for Kane. Kravtsov has virtually almost 0 value and there’s 0 1sts included. The only piece NYR needs is a Jeannot type of guy, otherwise it’s not worth it.

I dont think Nashville is willing to part with Jeannot and the Kane deal assumes he tells Chicago he will only go to NY. And i do think Kravtsov has value, I think any retooling team would be willing to at least take a chance on a former top 10 pick 23 years old with good analytics if the price isnt too high

I do not think Kane is worth it. I worry about a few things with acquiring him: the actual cost (1st rd pick + other smaller pieces), his health, and the lack of grit/style of play needed for the playoffs. Jeannot is definitely the guy I would want. I could see either one of the Arizona players or Lafferty (I think someone may over pay for him). I agree with Domi and Barbashev as I think someone will overpay for them as well.

For Gus, note that he is out until at least the final stretch of the regular season, and possibly not until the playoffs.

Make the conditions a little easier - ups to like, a 4th if he plays in half of the games, ups to a 3rd if he plays those games and produces X number of points, whatever.

I agree on Lafferty and as much as I would love to add Jeannot Im not sure Nashville is willing to trade him for all the reasons the rangers want him, hes a young, gritty, scoring forward under control.

As for Kane yea I definitely went with the best case scenario in terms of an offer and I do agree about his health but Im not worried about playoff performance if hes healthy, he won 3 stanley cups. But overall i agree i dont think it will happen

I am going with none of the above.

If I am Drury, I am looking for a depth D..... Harpur as a #7 works, but if the Rangers are going on a run, I would suggest funding a #7-8 is more in the cards. The forward depth is simply there.

Adding a Holden, circle back to Braun, kick a tire on Jack Johnson. That would be my next move.

The offense in New York is what teams are responding to. Leafs answered that call. The Canes are looking to answer that call.

Adding to the D at this point makes more sense.

Yea thats fair and makes sense and at his cap hit i imagine the rangers want to hold him until the playoffs so no guarantee he’ll be able to just go after not playing for that long

I get that and wouldnt mind a 7th D add but there is an obvious hole in the forward lineup. Leschyshyn Is not an NHL player

The playoffs are definitely a marathon. I still think the fwd player is a higher need. Last year, if they had a little bit better depth and did not have to force Strome to play injured, they may have beaten Tampa. I worry what could happen with any minor injury in the fwd group. I guess you could say the same with the defense, but I think Harper is just as good as Braun and better than Jack Johnson.

From what I gave noticed over the season, the Rangers don't lean on the 4th line much. Now, with the Motte addition (a good one), that could change.

I guess the question here is in comparison to the big boys in the East, how does the forward unit stack up depth wise and how does the D stack up.

Honestly, when comparing, the D core stands out a lot more.

Not saying you have a point, but where is the most milage going to be gained?

The playoffs are definitely a marathon. I still think the fwd player is a higher need. Last year, if they had a little bit better depth and did not have to force Strome to play injured, they may have beaten Tampa. I worry what could happen with any minor injury in the fwd group. I guess you could say the same with the defense, but I think Harper is just as good as Braun and better than Jack Johnson.

            Ideally do both?

            I made another comment above.

This Rangers team is awefully good. But if an injury happens on the blueline, and God forbid 2...... yikes.
