That makes no sense for Chicago. Why would they trade their star for a guy who is older and not nearly as good? They could just trade him straight to New York (which honestly is probably not enough either)

I think Dadonov ends up in TOR, but it is a confusing look to a 3-way trade.

the above trade is probably pretty close, with maybe a first or second round pick added and/or Jones.
the difference is CHI gets the payers and the better pick and MON (or another team) gets the 5th rounder for retailing the additional 50%.

This looks like a 4-team trade, so let's try and parse it out

MON receives: Vitali Kravstov (NYR), Jake Leschyshyn (NYR), 2024 4th (TOR), Patrick Kane (50% retained) (CHI)
MON sends out: Evgenii Dadonov (50% retained) (CHI), Patrick Kane (double retained) (NYR)

NYR receives: Patrick Kane (double retained) (CHI/MTL), 2023 5th (MTL)
NYR sends out: Vitali Kravstov (MTL), Jake Leschyshyn (MTL)

TOR receives: Evgenii Dadnov (double retained (MTL/CHI)
TOR sends out: 2024 4th (MTL)

CHI receives: Evgenii Dadonov (50% retained) (MTL)
CHI sends out: Evgenii Dadonov (double retained) (TOR), Patrick Kane (50% retained)

So I think you missed the part where Chicago actually gets assets for sending Patrick Kane out, seeing as how Kravstov (whom I'd assume would be the prospect sent out in a Kane trade) found himself on Montreal's second line after all this maneuvering.

I would assume he is only making the deal in MTLs POV and assets are sent from NY

That's what I was thinking until I saw Kravstov sticking in Montreal - I don't think he's a major asset, but I think he's worth more than a late 3rd/early 4th (what I assume the $2.625M retention on Kane would cost the Rangers)

Maybe, but I have seen him being traded for a third a lot on this site.

Yeah sorry if it looks confusing, Its kinda a 4 way trade in MTL's POV, dannibal shortened it well

Im not brave enough to attempt giving a return for Kane for CHI
