We just gotta stand pat at the TDL, as much as I hate to say it. Meier made the most sense, but losing Mercer hurts us in the long run. I’m telling you there is something up with the fact Pasternak hasn’t re-signed yet, it’s fishy. Let’s keep our assets and throw the kitchen sink at Pasta in July.

We talk about not giving Timo more (much) than Jack and then talk about Pasta who is expected to get $12 on the open market?

Steep price for Schmaltz. I'd rather not.

I made it so that it might be a slight overpay on our end because I feel like that’s the only way ARI will move a guy like Schmaltz. Realistically the package would probably strike closer to just shar and a the 1st or something similar but I feel like Walsh won’t ever become a roster player for us so I just threw him in there too.

We have the space why wouldn’t we? Wouldn’t you rather have Pasta than Meier anyway….

How do you figure? 36.6 million in available cap space certainly seems like enough to get both Pasternak and Bratt signed and have money to fill out the roster after. Are we really gonna be upset if we have those two, and just don’t bring back Blackwood, Tatar, Severson, and Wood? Sign me up.

actually no, I want some physicality. it goes against the whole keeping the team on an even keel $ wise (yeah I know Dougie). Pasta aint close at least Timo would be. I think there is alSO a better fit player wise. Lastly and most importantly I don't think he leaves Boston. Then what we miss again on a winger waiting (seems eerliy like that rn with TM).

If he wanted to stay in Boston he wouldn’t be flirting with UFA, he would have already signed that extension. Bergeron and Krejci finishing their careers this year is a major factor at play. I worked the math yesterday, we can fit both of Pasta and Bratt and keep Graves.

We also need to find replacements for like, half of the bottom 6 (wood, Haula, tuna) which should cost us ~10 mil. Plus we have to resign the rest of the bottom 6 (McLeod, Bass, Zett, Boq if we want to), which should be another 3-4 mil out of our pockets. It really starts to add up. 12 for Pasta + 8 for Bratt + 14 for the bottom 6 is already 34 million gone, ignoring the fact that we need to sign Luke, another right handed dman to replace Sevo, and a backup goalie

Act like it would require wizardry lol. I quite literally did the math yesterday. You can take a look….https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3968121[/url]

The fact that we have mediocre depth here (and nemec probably needs another year of development) is the reason I don’t want him. Sacrificing depth for a strong top 6 sounds like a specific team in edmonton that is struggling in a wild card spot right now. I’d rather sign good depth players and get a top 6er that’s cheaper than pasta (maybe 9m at most)

The third line of Mercer/Shara/Boqv is plenty strong. Idk how much more “depth” you need. Nemec will be ready next October.

Boqvist has 11 points in 47 games. We should not bank on Schmid being our backup next year or nemec being ready. I’d much rather spend 12m on 3 or 4 solid players than 1 elite player

Boqvist is playing VERY well right now, idk why you think he can’t handle a role on the third line. Schmid has done great in a backup role when called upon this year. And Nemec is sitting at a modest 64 PNHLe and a +9 his first year playing in NA. I think your concerns are a tad unwarranted.

I just simply don’t think we should bank on all three of those players being able to slot into those roles next year. Especially boqvist, who didn’t record a single point from November 25th til January 10th

Yeah but Wood is B E E G

In all seriousness I wouldn't move Parise either but I have Lou trauma from the Devils' dark age

Nemec can play on the third pairing next year cmon man. But we’ll agree to disagree.

I’m not saying he can’t, I just don’t feel 100% confident that a 19 year old defenseman that will have only had 1 year of NA hockey under his belt to join an nhl roster
