All that to get schmaltz and gonna play him on the wing on the 3rd line. He's the 2nd line center day 1 isn't he.

Definitely agree with this. But also trade seems really good for both sides.

I like schmaltz, I'd hope Detroit would take a run at him.

He’s not a center today, he’s a wing. He will be a center eventually once he’s acclimated to the Canes system. There are many people out there who will tell you Schmaltz struggled at C, but excelled at wing.

This roster as constructed gives Canes three dangerous scoring lines and an elite shutdown line. Also flexibility in the long run.

I know this thread isn't about this specifically but in terms of being a banker to facilitate trades, I think the Avs should do it if they can. They need picks so if they have the space, why not? They aren't likely to add any big-money players anyhow so might as well try to pick up some assets along the way.

Yeah I used COL as an example, but it’s just an example only. It’s a big discussion point right now, but I think there are likely more facilitators right now than players who will be moved who will need 3rd party facilitation.

The example I provided was the maximized for the Canes in this situation and it’d be a Kane style move. Other players would be less.
