Why does everyone else get to hit home runs, but CHI has to temper expectations?

Because everyone hates CHI and wants to watch the Hawks organization burn.

with the exception of Nashville with Jeannot, who has hit a homerun?
seems like a buyers market right now...

What?!?! I get th temper expectations on Kaner due to NMC...not that I have to like it, but i get it. These are massive hauls. Freakin Orlov got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd. (Yes there's cap going back and retention...It would be in a Hawks deal too)

Let's list off what Timo got
* automatic 1st
* automatic 2nd...fair terms for a 2nd 1sts
*got a VERY good 1st round prospect #19 overall and I'd rather have than either of the 1sts. Good prospect.
*ditched a cap dump...typically costs a 2nd right now.
* ditched a few 6th rounder nobody's for 2 guys that'll play in the NHL.

I'm shocked at what people are upset about. That's bigger than what Hall got. I don't know a TDL trade that got more.

Ivan Barbashev got a 1st round prospect. It's Ivan Barbashev as a pending UFA. What's the world come to if he can get a 1st round prospect that's playing well in the Q.

One of tbe biggest sellers markets in history right now.

i disagree - Timo's return was very underwhelming. No Holtz, Mercer or Nimec. Zetterlund is good, but most likely a career 3rd liner. Mukhamadullin is good also, but no proof. Sure, the 1st rounder is nice but Timo is a game changer.

We'll see. If he is a game changer...then it's (2) 1sts. That's just a ton of value. I GET he's a big name. I get expectations were insane, BUT in a serious conversation/tone. What's a better return? Bo Horvat? Potentially because we might think the NYI get to #13 OA and we might think Raty is a better prospects, BUT AGAIN that just goes to show us how much of a sellers market this is.

so what is the return on Kane?

I'd like to know what you think he should get and then what you think he will actually get.

Everyone here in CHI is saying don't expect much for Kane. I think the way it should have gone down is similar to Giroux. The 1st, and a prospect and additional prospects heading with Kaner to the Rangers. I'm hopeful it's not Zach Jones because the Hawks have (8) LD prospects that are either in the NHL and need that ice time to develop or in the CHL rearing to go to the AHL/NHL. I'm hopeful the prospect would be Sykora, BUT again...everyone here is saying for Kane...temper expectations.

The thing no one's talking too much about is that Lafferty was told the same exact time that Kane was...they he can't play against SJS. What I actually think will happen is that he's going to be a Ranger. Seems odd that A.) those (2) get told to sit for trade related reasons B.) Not McCabe or anyone else and C.) neither of them have been moved yet, but at least with Kane we know it's due to cap accruing. I have zero inside knowledge. Just trying to understand why things have played out like they did.

***EDIT*** I'm wrong. Lafferty to TOR.
