Flyers TDL

Created by: sobrien6187
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2023
Published: Feb. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Flyers move some pieces around and try to recoup some of their traded away 2nd rounders for the next couple years, as they lack high end prospects.
Flyers take a gamble on Greenway, Vrana, and Puljujarvi to see if they're worth hanging onto, despite the depth of middle-6 talent in the organization.
They take on Rodrigues and Ryan as expiring Cap dumps and Center depth.
They retain some Cap to maximize trade returns
JvR to MIN for expiring veteran scoring depth, Braun for D depth
Hayes to COL for a 2nd C to repeat, but not willing to retain much for long term, return is a late 1st and some middling to plus prospects, particularly Centers, which PHI lacks badly.
Seeler to EDM for a cost-effective Dman with term, and takes on some Cap space to help alleviate a laughably bad cap situation.
DeAngleo back to CAR as a familiar piece to bolster their bottom half PP, a serious Cup contender with a weakness. Flyers essentially get their picks back but have to retain some. Brown included for veteran depth.
Flyers roll the dice on Vrana, for a struggling top prospect and a heavily conditioned pick, in return for a shot in the arm of much needed skill

If they can get that for vrana and not have to retain then maybe, depends if the team just wants him gone and how bad.

I think Colorado only goes for Hayes at max (or close to max) retention. They are going to be very tight up against the cap next year and can't afford 5-6M.

Get it down to around 4M and I think there's serious consideration from the Avs. Understand if that's a deal breaker for the Flyers though too.

Players the Canes like (add Drury to that list) aren’t available unless it’s a player who help the Canes much more than TDA. I would like to have TDA back but not for trading a player like Drury

Get rid of the 4th and don't retain any salary in the Wild trade. Minnesota has a ton of cap space at the deadline so they don't need to give up extra assets to get salary retained.

Appreciate the constructive feedback! Doing this on my phone at work, I didn't go nuts triple checking cap situations, just tried to include pieces going back (Rodrigues) that could offset things.

Great to know about Drury too. Wasn't sure how the org felt about him.

The Canes like the player, probably think he’s a little better than he really is. He’s a stylistic fit and is a ‘Canes’ style player that Brindamour likes.

I guess that's another thing. Colorado wouldn't want to to give up Rodrigues. They would be looking to straight add and have the cap room for this season. It's next year when things get crazy (MacKinnon, Byram, and Newhook will all at least double their current salary).
