Reaves needs to stay in the lineup as much as people don't want to hear it. Kaprizov is no longer molested on a nightly basis and it remains that way because of Reaves. Simply put, Kaprizov owes his freedom of play on the ice to Reaves. Or at least the ideological thought or threat of him. It keeps opposing teams honest.
Or do you need reminding of the Doughty incident earlier this year? Or the Frederic incident last year? Without Reaves in the Lineup, opposing teams WILL try and agitate Kaprizov and get under his skin or worse, try and knock him out of the game entirely.
Even Arizona, Columbus, and Chicago attempted these gameplan routes before we acquired Reaves. Since then? Nothing, nada, zilch. He's been free to do as he pleases.
This isn't a scenario where his level of play dictates his roster spot. His M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) and implied threat, however, does.
In short, it's not about whether he's good on the ice or not. It's psychological warfare on Guerin's and Evason's part. One that's necessary.</div></div>
I agree with this until the playoffs. We saw last year with Deslauriers he provided very little in the playoffs, because its a different style of hockey.

NHL GM's aren't as short sighted as fans are and will realize that Greenway had 5 years of NHL production before this one where he averaged 27 pts/year while playing on one of the best defensive lines in the league. Not saying the Wild will get a premier pick for him. But I guarantee you they aren't going to have to give up a second for him.

Get rid of the 4th and don't retain any salary in the Wild trade. Minnesota has a ton of cap space at the deadline so they don't need to give up extra assets to get salary retained.

I think with the cap crunch the wild are about to be in with Boldy's new contract, both Hartman and Greenway are gonna have to go next year, but I could be totally wrong. I just think as the GM if you are having to make these tough decisions on anyone who is 1.5M or more, you've gotta consider who can get you the best return, especially when they aren't a true top 6 player.</div></div>
Wild have no reason to trade Hartman. With the cap issues they have, having a guy who can play center or wing and has shown the ability to score 20+ goals making only 1.7 is a huge steal for them. If you were to move him, they would still have to pay someone to be on the roster in his place so even if that player is making league minimum you're only saving $1 mil which isn't worth the drop off between Hartman and a league minimum guy. Basically 0 chance Minnesota trades Hartman.

Try maybe a 6th for that production at that cost of $500,000 a fudging point.</div></div>
If you want to argue if he’s worth a 2nd or not that’s your opinion, but Sharks fans acting like their team is somehow above Jordan Greenway is hilarious to me. He’s 25 years old with 5 years of NHL experience and has averaged 27 pts/year the last 4 years. But you’re right just ignore everything he’s done before this year. He probably forgot how to play hockey.

Greenway would have been 7th on the Sharks in points last year and 3rd on the Sharks in points two years ago. He's having a down year this year no doubt, but hes still 25 years old plays a good defensive game and has shown the ability to score in the past.

As for the Canucks trade no team is going to take on over 3 million in salary for a 4th round. The Canucks had to give up a second to dump Dickenson's 2.65 mil and we also had to take Stillman back. It cost the Flames a first to offload Monahan. The Canucks are willing to retain money but it if you want Boeser it would probably cost you a pick and Faber.</div></div>
Like I said in the description, this thread wasn't really focusing on trade returns, it was more about how the wild can make a Boeser trade work within the cap next year. But just interested what you think, how high of a pick along with Faber do you think it would take for Boeser?

I'll also take Barabanov 100 times out of 100 over Greenway, especially with his cap hit.</div></div>
Because Greenway is a 6'6" 25 y/o Winger with 5 years of NHL experience and he plays strong defensively. He's also shown the ability to score in the past. At 3 mil AAV Greenway's contract is pretty reasonable and he could help out a rebuilding team a ton. But I guess we can agree to disagree because when you say that Barabanov is worth Greenway, a 1st and a 2nd you clearly overvalue your favorite teams players and there will be no convincing you

Barabanov is also 3 years older and MUCH worse defensively. Greenway is having a down year offensively, but he still is going to have value to a lot of teams and him and David Quinn are extremely close, so if there is anyone that is going to think they make Greenway reach his offensive potential it will be Quinn.

Not to mention the entire reason that Greenway is on the market is because Minnesota will be cap strapped this offseason so they need to shed his salary. This move costs them an extra $1mil

My thought on this is that next year, when Norris is back, Pinto might be buried on the depth chart behind him and Stutzle. If they can get Dumba to resign, they would be dealing from a position of strength and getting a much needed RD

It's been reported VAN wants NHL ready players back in trades. Getting a 25 year old checking forward that has shown some ability to score on a fairly team friendly deal and a second round pick isn't much of a step down from a first. In this scenario MN could even do OTT's 2nd instead of their which will likely be a higher 2nd

I'll be honest I have no idea what the price would be for Kuzmenko, but if the price to resign is going to be around $6mil like its been reported, it seems like VAN might want to move him. A 25 y/o with 5 years of NHL experience on a fairly team friendly deal and a pick would seem to be more valuable to a rebuilding team than a 27y/o rookie that is going to be expensive to resign
