Agree this is close. At a minimum, I think the Hawks would want to swap out Minten for Neimela (and something like the '24 4th). Hawks biggest need is forwards and they have a pretty deep pipeline of D (and moreso on the right side seem to have Seth Jones forever and Murphy for a while as well). I also suspect the Hawks will want to retain the full 2 million on McCabe to improve their return when they move him.

Full retained McCabe (2 mil) & Lafferty for '24 first, Minten, Der-Arguchintsev, and whichever of the '23 3rd/'25 2nd Arizona does not take would be my counter

Toronto doesn’t want to part with Minten as they need young centre in the pool. What if we added another prospect?

McCabe ( 1 million retained) and Lafferty for Niemala, SDA, Ovinchinkov and 2024 1st?

If/when the Hawks move McCabe and retain, I think it will be for the full 2 million to maximize the return. From a needs standpoint, Niemala is just a bad fit for the Hawks (and I think he is a pretty good prospect and has value....it's just that it forces a complimentary move to get to where the Hawks want to get to...namely add some forward prospect depth). If you gave me a choice of a different forward prospect, I would probably lean Moldenhauer before Ovinchenkov. I'm just not sure the Leafs and Hawks are a great (or as good as others might be as a) match. If Minten and Knies are off the table as options and the '24 first is the closest 1st, I suspect the Hawks will find a combo of '23 1st and forward prospect they like more elsewhere. I suppose you never know as the trade deadline is a bit of a game of musical chairs and the Hawks and Leafs could end up become better options as the week plays out and other deals/needs get filled.

McCabe (2 Million retained) + Lafferty for '24 1st, SDA, Moldenhauer, '23 3rd/'25 2nd that AZ leaves , +'24 4th I think that favors the Hawks, but is more of a quantity than quality I would be hoping for. My hope would be a '23 1st and a higher caliber forward prospect, but again if the music stops and the Hawks and Leafs are left on the dance floor with out many other options...I could see something getting done more quantity than necessarily quality.

This didn't age well....think your offer and counter were MUCH better then what the Hawks got. Now hope those guys help knock out the Lightning the next 2 playoffs to improve the 1st the Hawks have coming from them.
