Kerfoot

Created by: Hockeyfan1234
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2023
Published: Feb. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto will need to do something with Kerfoot to make room for Murray coming off LTIR. Everybody will know that and since Kerfoot has a high contract for his production, they will either need to retain or pay to dump him. This gives Toronto the option to send down McGinn who definitely doesn’t get claimed and gives them a warm body for the playoffs and the ability to carry 23 players or other injuries and gives more cap space than just sending Kerfoot down and hope he doesn’t get claimed and only having 22 players.
Just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Leafs won't need to pay or retain to dump him. They are cap compliant passing him through waivers and losing him for nothing. That's the bottom line for returns.

Seems like a solid idea.

Aside from McGinn having 3 years left on his deal...

Or they can get an asset for him whether or not they need to retain 1m on him.

Sure but McGinn isn't exactly a positive value asset with his contract and term.

All the big fish have been caught at this point so if Kerf is moved it's closer to leaf fan dreams than what ever nonsense this site spews

Yeah, it would be for a pick I imagine lol, not for a guy like McGinn who has term.

What I'm hoping to see is that they trade him and get a 2nd or 3rd and then use those assets to acquire Domi at 50%, if it's essentially a wash.

No one owes Pittsburgh a thing no one. And your current GM makes significantly worse decisions than GMJR ever has
