Description
Upped the cap. Figured since Bateman got his wish and the Penguins won the cup that maybe he would reward everyone with a few extra mil. Even if he does not, still have a mil and a half maybe 2 to spare.

Only trade I feel may not be enough is for Duchene. May have to package another pick or prospect in there, but in my opinion worth getting him. Able to play wing and center. Could be the "Nathan Hortan" like player Krecji has needed for the past few seasons. Also, I know a lot of people are thinking 6 years $6 million ISH for Pasta. I looked at what we did with Marchand and modeled Pasta after that. After winning a cup we still didn't give Marchand a massive contract. I think Pasta is in it for the long haul and the Cup not money, so hopefully with a NMC he will be willing to stay for a bit less to get a BIG contract when his time comes.

First time doing one of these GM things on here so please feel free to let me know what others think!

Pasta = more term, more money. Yes, Boston did bridge Marchy, but that was years ago under different GM and circumstances. Need to look at comparables more recently around the league and go from the current market.

Welcome to Capfriendly!

Thanks for the welcome!! Still don't see him or them wanting to strap the team just so he makes a couple extra Mil a year. Everyone wants that cup baby!! but we will see what happens. Thanks again for the comment!

I'm also a fan of having Backes on the third line center. Many people want JFK as the 3rd line center next season, but what if he is just not ready yet? I wouldn't mind JFK having a first line center job in Providence for a year. Who knows though, it all comes down to training camp. I think Backes on the third line center would be a great backup just incase JFK isn't ready

Sweeney's job to sell a bridge idea to Pasta and agent because they won't get a cup with Marchy and Bergy if they have to wait 6 or 7 years for Pasta's next contract. 6 X 6 right now is kind of handcuffing them, however so is Backes' contract!!

Hey bruinsfan_tb, welcome!! Good effort for your first try!! Unfortunately Cap won't go up and it's not Bettmans choice, it's the players choice!!!

Don't think you need to retain any of Khudobin's contract, just take a 7th round pick and be done with it!!!
We may not get that back for McQuaid, but even a lower pick is ok.
I don't think we need to incentify Vegas at all. Just let them pick. You would have to maybe package Beleskey and some prospect and picks to a team like Vancouver who could actually use a guy like him! (See my post)
The Duchene trade is interesting. I didn't go that route, I signed Justin Williams and Brendan Smith (D from Rangers) for the same money as Duchene and didn't lose any prospects.

Also I see you did the PK lineup, but not the PP lineup???

So check out my team I posted at around 1pm today ... REALISTIC BRUINS TEAM 2017/2018

Let me know your thoughts.....anyway, good job on the GM duties!!

You should only bridge Pasta if you think he's going to regress to below a 60p player. Likely a 1 or 2 year bridge deal, 4 years would be a very rare bridge deal.

If he keeps scoring 30g/70p a year take the $6x6 and run, you're getting a discount for buying out his remaining RFA years. Personal opinion is that last year isn't a fluke season, and Pasta will be a 60-80 point player for years to come.

The Backes deal was weird at the time for me, his deal is the handcuffing deal. Not that Boston is alone in the bad handcuffing deals, almost every team has at least one.

I'd skip the Duchene deal, and keep Zboril as a future LHD. Chara is about done, Krug isn't anything more than a scoring #4D, and there isn't a whole lot of depth close to NHL ready in the system.
