Labanc for Fabbro

Created by: JacobLyons
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2023
Published: Feb. 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Purely a change of scenery trade.
Nashville is still in the thick of it, trying to compete for a playoff appearance, they get a skilled winger who can play in their middle six and depart with someone who is currently playing on the bottom pair. Sharks brass seem to be interested in Fabbro, especially with Quinn’s relationship with him at BU. I think believe it’s a fair deal. Nashville gets the better player, but also the more expensive player. San Jose gets much needed help on the right side to compliment Karlsson and Benning, and with EK65 potentially being gone in the summer, it’s a solid jump start replenishing the blue line.

Let me know if it’s too much or not enough!

Ottawa would likely beat that with picks and prospects.

That’s fair, it does seem like San Jose are the front runners.

Trying to compete for a playoff appearance? Dude, we just fire sold two key players of our team. We are sellers, nowhere near trying to compete.

We aren't moving a 24 year old RFA for someone who would be a downgrade to Nino.

I understand where you’re coming from, but Labanc and Nino are way more even than you’d think from their stat line, AND Labanc has another year at just 700k more, AND Nashville has a chance to get someone younger than Nino, AND I’m sure they’d really like a secondary scoring option in return for a player who might not resign. And with the TJ trade, I mean cmon they got a whole draft class for him.[/quote]

Rebuilding requires you to trade for assets like draft picks. They need to be very careful about the assets they take on and not take players who should have value but aren’t being moved.

This isnt a trade nashville would consider.

Think of it this way:
Why wouldnt of nashville just held onto Nino? Nino has a better career goal scoring pace which is what nashville really needs. Nino is cheaper. Nino has the same overall career point generation .50 points/game. This is basically returning to status quo for nashville and at best puts then back to not being good enough to make it into the playoffs and not bad enough for a high pick. Not a good place to be. Fabbro should be traded for prospects or paired with picks for a higher caliber young player.
