Preds want to get out from under Duchene's contract before his NTC kicks in. Barry has called Bolduc a young Victor Hedman. Not sure how to value Duchene given he's coming off a career year but is also 32 with 4 more years at 8M.

Anyone who looked at Oliver Wahlstrom's TOI down the home stretch last season would have a hard time believing that he was one of Barry Trotz's favorite toys.

I would think if they're doing that type of trade, it would be someone like JGP or Palmieri heading to Nashville. Barry tended to lean on his veterans a lot more than his younger players, and getting some of them feels way more likely than targeting Wahlstrom/Bolduc, if he was even going to open up a trade dialogue with the Islanders.

Also Duchene isn’t exactly high value rn. You could probably get away with offering Pageau and a second if you really wanted to imo

Would be hard pressed to think that Nashville is trying to trade for veterans after dealing Jeannot and Niederreiter for picks. If it's just a re-tool they're after maybe they have interest in Pageau or Palmieri, but a report came out that they were already in talks about Wahlstrom which is what spurred this. If Isles can add Duchene for less, great. I'm not really losing sleep over trading Wahlstrom or Bailey tbh though.
