why would Vancouver ever do that? Give up on the guy they hope is their franchise tender for... a 1st?

And a good prospect.

Maybe Vancouver decides to rebuild. They're looking to trade Miller. Having Demko around may not fit into their plan.

Demko is having a down year. So it's not a sure bet he'll turn out to be a top 10 goalie in the league.

True, but only contending teams would be interested in Demko so if they do decide to trade him the return will include a late 1st rounder.

Not true. Buffalo, LA Kings really hot for Demko. They have much better prospects. This is a dumb proposal.

Buffalo has a couple of good goalie prospects. And I doubt LA will give up their coveted prospects for a goalie. The truth is any return for Demko won't be jaw-dropping. It will look a lot like this offer minus Murray.
