Jets simply don’t need the retention. You’ve essentially paid 5 1sts for JC which is a gross overpay. You could likely get Chychrun and Schmaltz for less than this…. Jets don’t need a ton of cap this summer. They don’t really have any expiring deals. Dubois is likely gone, so you’re not worried about signing him and Schmaltz is his replacement anyways.
