24-25 After having the crazy threesome
I actually do like the idea of DeBrusk coming back in the Canucks-Bruins 3 way (but I wouldn't flip him for Broberg). I'm really not sure if that works for Boston or if he is "young enough" to be considered by Dubas - he's only 2 years younger than our favorite Jake. But, the Ullmark stuff doesn't really make sense. I don't even know if Boston would even want to trade DeBrusk (let alone add a lot) for Lindholm.

Oilers don't have cap space for Rakell.
Also, I'm fairly certain POJ was waived earlier this season so he could have been claimed for free. Either way, a 3rd round pick from a rebuilding team doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe if it was a lower pick or something.

That just makes the Canucks older with similarly bad contracts to JT Miller. If y'all want him you can have him. But, Pettersson+Ty Smith makes a lot more sense if you want 2 defenseman that work for Pittsburgh.

Shea Weber is owed $3M this year and $1M for the next 3 years in real money. The cap hit simply allows them to hit the cap floor, without actually paying the full ($7.86M) cap hit.

I was mostly trying to see how close salaries were to fitting in both Chychrun and Miller. It's definitely possible. Probably needs more massaging then I did. But, does seem plausible with only Pettersson+Heinen leaving the roster. Gets even easier if McGinn gets claimed, which does seem unlikely. But, he brings more to the a hockey team than Kapanen and Kap was claimed.

Eh, D have a hard time finding chemistry. Petry is still a bit underwhelming and seems to be thinking out there and he's an established veteran.
I don't think think Dumoulin will be moved at all anyways, even though I'd like him to be.

I doubt it.
I think he's a trade asset at this point. I don't think they are seriously considering him or POJ replacing Dumo on the top pair next year - which means only one of them can play on the bottom pair.
Yeah, if they move Pettersson, they can go UFA/Trade Target-POJ-Smith, but I don't really think that's how they want to roll.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>All under offers, and those teams say no.
Domi probably gets a 2nd and a bit more, (a 4th?)
Boeser with multiple yrs retention probably gets a 1st and a 3rd added to that
Chyrchrun deal would need probably Poulin and something else like POJ or Smith, or maybe both of those, Dumolin as an expiring UFA adds really nothing to the offer for ARZ</div></div>
Eh, no one is really hot on Domi, and he already said he wants to go back to 'Hawks. A 2nd would probably be fine there.
Same with Boeser. He kinda sucks and is a jerk in the locker room. Personally, I don't want him either way. But, Pettersson is probably a better player right now and the values are much closer than being a 1st round pick off. Probably somewhere in between.
The Chychrun trade is bad though. They want 2 1sts + a high end prospect. They can probably be talked down to Pickering+1st+2nd+something else (mid round pick, Poulin, etc). But, Dumo certainly doesn't help them.
Overall, I also don't see them tearing down their entire left side of their D. Or really trading Dumoulin at all, despite the fact he seemingly costs us at least a goal, personally, every game. They like him in the locker room and I don't see them messing up that chemistry mid-season.

I don't think Saad is really available. They just signed him, and while Blues started a bit of a tear down, they still need competent wingers to complement their core of Thomas and Kyrou. Saad was signed to be an answer there - at least for another few years.
I guess the asking price would be multiple high picks and a prospect, just because they really have no incentive to move him. He's still producing at his career .5 PPG pace and for $4.5 for 4 more years he will likely maintain value for the duration of the contract.

I would assume Coyotes (and Pens for that matter) would be more interested in Owen Pickering than POJ. That keeps some continuity at the blue line for the Pens and gives the Coyotes another raw prospect for their endless rebuild.

Rangers fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but JT Miller doesn't seem like a player they have cap space to keep. This seems like a very desperate, short-sighted trade for them.

I agree, but there is also pressure on Vancouver to move him now (if contract negotiations aren't going well). Price goes way down at TDL, especially isn't on 100 point pace again. And cap situations are gonna get trickier once UFA starts.
Penguins (until Malkin is acquired) have a need at 2C, Vancouver front office drafted and developed some current Penguins. There is a trade to be made there.
I don't know if Penguins will have best offer, but they do offer the least unknowns to Vancouver.

My trade
I'm a Pens fan, and I don't get this for NYR. Why are they trading out a 2nd round pick to get rid of Kakko? And facilitating his signing with a division rival?
Also, Gudas isn't worth anywhere near a 2nd round pick.
Unless the trade is that the Rangers are so down on Kakko and Gudas as players, that they actually want them to play on the Penguins to lose them games? That's the only logic I can find here.

Marino to MTL in 3 team deal
Penguins decline. If were to trade out Marino, 1st round pick, and one of our top prospects, we would want a 2C to replace Malkin. Dvorak isn't that. And we would also value keeping some cap space around to find a RHD in UFA to replace Marino.

Pens don't really ever trade with Flyers. If you remember, we had to use Tampa as intermediary to get Mark Streit as a rental a few years back.
But even if they did, they don't want Gostibehere's contract. They already have 2 overpaid LHD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HypotheticalImpossibility</b></div><div>Riikola's 27 and hasn't managed a full NHL season with the Penguins. I think his NHL career is pretty much over at this point.
Definitely in the minority here, but I'd consider taking him for future considerations as a Plan E or Plan F. If Detroit's still light on LD and gets into injury trouble, he might slot in on the 3rd paring and help the tanking effort. Wouldn't be willing to give up anything for him though.</div></div>
Interesting perspective.
Rikola actually looks like a bottom pair NHL defenseman when he plays. I don't know why Sullivan doesn't ever want to play him, but he's a better skater and is more skilled than Ruhwedl and Friedman. I can understand the perspective that he's not an NHL player, since the only team that has offered him a contract chooses not to play him. But to me, he would seem to just need an opportunity to play. Detroit would seem like a good spot with so few capable players currently under contract, and a future 7th hardly qualifies as a significant asset. But, I'll note this if I do any future ACGM's.

Rielly for Ekholm
I really don't see the Penguins moving McCann for futures. And If they did, it would probably cost more than a 1st. He's cost controlled and ascending. Zucker perhaps makes him redundant in the top 6, but I would think they would rather get an immediate impact player if they were to move McCann/Rust.
