Yeah, cause Detroit and their like 2 defensemen couldn’t use basically a free defenseman lol

Yeah Ovi isn’t signing for that much unless it’s with Washington. And still doesn’t sign for that little. That flyer trade sucks for the pens. Wouldn’t even pay a 2nd for Hagg alone let alone add Pettersson.

1. He's not NHL quality.
2. There are much better defenders in FA that don't cost picks.
3. There are much better defenders available on cap dump deals that bring assets in instead of out.
4. There are better defenders that will be available on waivers.

1.) yes he is
2.) and going to cost more in cap space
3.) they may bring in assets but aren’t better defenders
4.) not really, they will be at best similar quality and likely be higher cap hits.

1. Bull****. Why are you giving him away then?
2. So what? Cap isn't a problem for Detroit.
3. Jake Gardiner and Shayne Gostisbehere not better? You need glasses.
4. There will be dozens like Riikola on waivers and I'll bet he will too.

You've been told no. Stop arguing, Riikola is not wanted.

1.) I’m not
2.) If Detroit signs older players through free agency, it is to inevitably trade them at the deadline. Therefore cap is a problem for Detroit. A minor issue, but an issue nonetheless.
3.) Gardiner sucks and Philly isn’t going to pay anyone to take on Ghost. If anything they’d just leave him exposed for Seattle to take and Seattle would likely take him for free lol.
4.) like I said, they will be at best similar quality, however likely be a higher cap hit.

You’ve been told you’re wrong. Stop arguing. You’re being delusional.

Riikola's 27 and hasn't managed a full NHL season with the Penguins. I think his NHL career is pretty much over at this point.

Definitely in the minority here, but I'd consider taking him for future considerations as a Plan E or Plan F. If Detroit's still light on LD and gets into injury trouble, he might slot in on the 3rd paring and help the tanking effort. Wouldn't be willing to give up anything for him though.

Interesting perspective.

Rikola actually looks like a bottom pair NHL defenseman when he plays. I don't know why Sullivan doesn't ever want to play him, but he's a better skater and is more skilled than Ruhwedl and Friedman. I can understand the perspective that he's not an NHL player, since the only team that has offered him a contract chooses not to play him. But to me, he would seem to just need an opportunity to play. Detroit would seem like a good spot with so few capable players currently under contract, and a future 7th hardly qualifies as a significant asset. But, I'll note this if I do any future ACGM's.

I’m not the one who traded him to your terrible team, I simply disagreed with your terrible and ignorant fanbase that doesn’t know anything about hockey or other teams on Riikola’s value. Ignorance isn’t a substitute for intelligence. A 7th round pick is hardly an asset worth much of anything. They are typically college players that likely don’t end up signing with your terrible team because it’s terrible and can become UFA’s after college lol. Riikola is a fair bet that given playing time could result in an upgrade over a 7th at the deadline when teams overpay for cheap depth. But we can just keep him for that rather than punish him 😂

Red Wing fans are awfully cute when they get so upset about minor trades 😂

The irony of claiming pens fans are as bad as leaf fans is hilarious. Trading Riikola for a 7th is nowhere close to what leaf fans do. And red wing fans all last season claimed “we can get at least a 2nd for Bobby Ryan”, “we can get at least a 2nd for Staal 50% retained”, “we can get at least a 2nd for Namestnikov”. Yet didn’t get a damn thing for any of their garbage 😂

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Ziggy moved Riikola to Detroit because he basically picked any bottom of the league team to send him to just to shed a little salary. So it’s not a stretch to say that Detroit would take a bottom pairing D Man for basically a throw away pick. Especially when Detroit with the exception of a handful of players are full of average to below average players.

It’s just kind of funny when you get fans like Stone Cold Billy Bob say to stop arguing like his opinion has any weight at all 😂 like yep You’re just going to stop because he said so lol

Lol your team just paid to take on Leddy who is a turnover machine and has a 5.5 million cap hit. Just goes to show that other teams fans know more about the red wings than red wings fans do 😂. Not only paid for Leddy’s full cap hit but also retained half on Panik too 😂
