Our purpose in trading John Klingberg would be to get a future asset or assets, not exchange UFAs.

Interesting trade with the Nucks! I think it comes down to whether or not Kaprizov for Pettersson is an even swap…

Can the Wild somehow send the incredibly overrated Zuccarello in this deal too???

The deal makes no sense for either side tbh. If anything, Minnesota gets worse and Anaheim gets no assets back

It is not. Pettersson is younger, cheaper, better, and is plays a more important position

He is not. Pettersson is better offensively and defensively and it isn't particularly close if you look at the analytics

You might want to watch Kaprizov play before you make that statement so boldly!! They are both incredible players!

He is an amazing player and extremely fun to watch, however Pettersson is simply better offensively and defensively

Want me to bring up the stats? Pettersson clears offensively and defensively

I don’t need stats. Kaprizov is single-handedly carrying yhe Wild into the playoffs! If you put him in a Nucks sweater at the beginning of the season, he would have at least 20 more points because he wouldn’t have to play with the turnover machine Zuccarello is! He would actually get to share the ice with 2 or 3 players who have enough talent to play with him! There isn’t ONE of those players on the Wild!

You can make excuses all you want, but lets not pretend like the Canucks are stacked with talent

The thrill is the better offensive player. He is doing more without a true number one center.

EP is the better defensive player.

EP is the better all around player due to his offensive game being better than Kaprisov’s defensive game, and he plays the more vital position.

Yes, by all means, bring up the stats that show me that Pettersson, who has been involved in 37% of all of Vancouver's goals, is better offensively than Kaprizov, who has been involved in 40% of all of Minnesota's goals.

True, but take Kaprizov off the Wild’s roster and the Canucks would have 3 or 4 players who would instantly become the Wild’s best player!

I certainly agree with the positional difference in evaluating the two, but Kaprizov is no slouch defensively, he is just used by coach Evason differently because he is the only player who can score on the Wild. Put him on a better balanced team and I would bet he would also be a shut down defender!

That’s not an excuse, that’s a legitimate reason. There’s a huge difference!

I love guys who want to talk numbers and when the very first number comes up and catches them on the wrong side of the discussion, say that a discrepancy with a deviation of 7.5% has no significance.

Being intellectually honest is hard, but worth the effort. And throwing numbers around if you don't understand them doesn't impress the knowledgeable.

By the same account, I could say that Pettersson would be a Selke contender if he was on the Minnesota Wild.
