1. We're unlikely to trade Mayfield.
2. We'd trade with the west to sell pieces, especially not to a team we're in a tight WC race with.
3. I'm not even going to pick apart that trade with Vancouver.

Why on God's green earth would the canucks make that trade with the Islanders. It would give the canucks hardly nothing in a return, aside from a 2nd and Salo. Would hardly gain any cap space from it either.. no thanks

-Trading for JT Miller is a terrible idea with Barzal & Horvat already extended long-term - the team will already have $81M in obligations to 15 players next year. *Even if the cap rose to $87M* they'd still have issues filling a 23 man roster with guys on league minimum deals (8x$750K = $6M). It's just an absolute non-starter.

-I could believe Mayfield might get a 1st if he's shopped; I can't believe that Buffalo would trade Anderson and a 2nd for Varlamov. They've put up very similar numbers this year, so Buffalo adding an extra $3.5M in cap and sacrificing a pick makes no sense.
