I like the Vancouver trade idea, but just cap space won't be enough, there will need to be SOME assets going back to Vancouver, even if it's just B level prospects for contract limit purposes.

Totally understandable. I wouldn't even know where to begin with who to offer for that.

really? Boeser for Myers? VAN could trade Boeser for assets and just buy out Myers. would be the cheaper option.

Wasn't Vancouver trying to trade Boeser at the deadline and found no suitors? Also the Myers buyout is basically pointless, only save 666,666. Boeser could maybe return a second and that's probably about what it would cost to dump Myers. Also most teams that would be willing to take Myers at his cap hit might not want to pay his signing bonus so it would save Vancouver $5M plus whatever else it took to dump his cap to a team not on his no trade list.

Nitpicking, but there is no chance that Berglund or Grewe are getting contracts. Berglund is an okay player in the Swedish ( 3RD ) leaque.

Canucks decline. Once Myers bonus is paid, he can be easily dumped on a team like Anaheim or Arizona that wants cheap his high cap hit with low salary to help them reach the floor. Cost could be anywhere from future considerations to a late round pick (4th at most). Not only that, but the Canucks won't pay to dump Myers, they've been clear that they view him as a positive asset and won't move him without getting value back.

Boeser not having many suitors at the TDL most likely comes down to the fact that only 8 teams could afford him without sending equal or more salary back, and pretty much all those teams were rebuilders like Arizona and Chicago who wouldn't want Boeser. He should be easier to move in the offseason when teams have cap space, and the Canucks can retain a bit to increase his value as well.

Why would Carter agree to go to Detroit?

To be bought out, just like the description says.

As much as we would love to dump him, he can’t be moved unless he wants it. Outside of possible waiving for a sentimental return to retire a Flyer, I can’t see him agreeing to leave the Pens.

It wouldn't be to play in Detroit, just to be bought out. He can then sign at league minimum to any team that would desire him. That is the idea here. Basically it would be the pens trying to force him out.

so VAN trades Myers in free agency after the bonus is paid. there are sure to be team that can absorb the 6 mil cap hit to only pay his 1M salary. VAN has lots of money, just not a lot of cap space lol.
they had suitors for both Miller and Boeser but stood their ground on value. i can't see Alvin and Rutherford going full jim benning and paying crazy amounts to dump myers with 1 year left. just wait the year or find the right conditions for a trade. he's a decent defenseman.... no where near a 6 mil/year guy but definately worth it for only 1M
