What's the thought on Addison alone, a high 2nd?

Pretty solid trade. Addison would be a good RD if Petry or Rutta were traded. Foligno would be good as well. The 3rd round pick would be Alexis Beaulac who’s a 6’4, 179 Right d-man. This could be the Pens last playoff run if they lose multiple of there better players. That could mean that the 202r 1st would be in the top 15. Fair deal IMO.

Whats the issue with Addison that Wild fans/management seemingly all want to move him?

It does seem kind of counter intuitive that he both has great value but you also all want to move him.... A rookie being shopped after a solid first full season is kind of a red flag.

I like Sundqvist at 1.7M. Also I like Klingberg around 3.5M.

Where do you see Johannsen going? I'm liking the chemistry, but I only want to pay 1.5M or less.

Addison was "playing scared" earlier in the season according to CDE. So he was sat. Addison denied that he was. But the fact is he's been turning away from contact in our zone all year. His stick and skating aren't strong enough to just win by positioning like Brodin does. So he has to go into the corners like Spurgeon does, but he doesnt. Also he hasn't asked Spurgeon for any advice even though he's been encouraged to by the coaches and Spurg. So if he's not listening, he's got to go.

Ah ok, thanks for explaining. Figured something was wrong. It didn't add up that Wild fans were always moving him despite putting up good point totals.

Sure thing. Good shot, decent passer, but doesn't have a stretch pass, go to the corners, or reportedly listen to coaches/mentors, at least according to The Athletic in late Feb.

I wouldn’t spend a penny on Klingberg!! He’s junk! I would pay Johansson up to $2m on a 2-3 year deal. Any more money or term and I would show him the door.

Yeah. Red flag if I ever saw one. I think Minny will be in tough to get any type of "good" value for him. Might have to be problem child for problem child type trade.

To be fair. The assessment on him is probably overly harsh. He still has top 4 upside as a 2nd pairing defenseman who can run a PP and is still only 22. So there's plenty of time for continued growth there.

The issue more than anything else in my mind is he is currently in the wrong system and with the wrong team oriented defense first focus for him. Which isn't necessarily his fault.

He's an offensive defenseman, who has no defensive game whatsoever. Which is nothing unusual. Especially in the NHL. But he's currently playing for a front office, organization, and coaching staff where the expectation is that a defenseman or any player really MUST play defensively sound hockey first, and be an offensive player second.

On a team that isn't as heavily focused on that or one that doesn't take issue with a less than desirable defensive skillset in favor for his aptitude for the offensive side of his game. Then he can probably thrive.

So I don't think it's his attitude, so much as, he simply doesn't fit Minnesota's overall team ideology or identity.

As much as that could be the case and another team may bring the best out of him, most teams are defense first even if they have offensive minded players on them. The ones that aren't generally aren't that good or have 1 or 2 superstars dragging the entire team.

Either way I don't think Addison is a lost cause or anything and players do absolutely change with age and maturity but while he has some nice skill, the other parts of the game you and others have mentioned make for an asset no NHL team will pay top dollar for. IMO the value for the other team is they could hopefully turn him into a better defensively minded player but that requires them taking a chance. Teams usually get those types of players for cheap...

I think there is more value in trying to help him get better. He is afterall just a rookie at the age of 22. Most dman that age aren't NHL ready and Minny is a vet heavy solid structured team. Most young dmen would look out of place a little. Unless a 3rd or 4th is worth more to them, I'd just keep him. I can't fathom a team paying a 1st and a 2nd might be the absolute best from an unexpecting team with blinders on.
