Why exactly would Detroit trade their hometown captain, who just extended for 8 years, for an extremely late 1st, two pending UFAs, and a 7th. Not to mention 50% retention for 8 years

What even is this trade?

The deal going to the Wings doesn't even cover half of 50% retained contract for EIGHT full years..

this has to be the biggest leafs homer trade in like history of mock trades.
