IMO we should target Freddy Gaudreau in FA. He would fit like a glove in Detroit

Niederbach would have to agree to an ELC contract and come to play in Calgary for the Wranglers, but he hits a few of the check marks for us: Right Shot, C/RW, Swedish

We might prefer an NHL Ready Prospect more, like Joe Veleno, who might be a decent 4C option for us or Gustav Lindstrom on RD, who both still have room to improve yet

Elmer Soderblom would be appealing as well

I think someone over pays him this season. I really feel this free agent class is weak and some of these "lower tier" players will get more term and money than would normally be expected. But where would you slot him into they line up? 3C? I think he could work good there and have Ras on the wing or something.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. I chose a prospect instead of a 3rd or 4th just cause I figured the player would be a couple years closer for the team.

yeah 3C ideally or just in the bottom 6 depending on what the lines look like. I think he'd fit great with Ras. You're probably right in that regard. We are far from being in a cap crunch and I think Freddy in the 4-5 range for 2-3 years would be fine. He could have a big role in Detroit defensively and physically and I think It's a great option for being more competitive the next couple years and taking the load off guys like Larkin, Copp n Perron.

He doesn't really hit. But I think he would be a good short term add. Physically and defence is why I targeted Foligno actually. Also Hathway. Adding those 2 adds like 400-500 hits a season. Plus both I think are solid at defence. This team I created here would be alot better defensively but probably lack offence. I added Klingberg for a bit more offence from the back end pairing him with a defensively responsible guy like Maatta.

I wouldn't mind replacing Fabbri with someone like Boeser to be honest. I just don't think it's easy to move Fabbri unless there is retention and a team is willing to give him a chance. Might be a bit low candidate for a team like Edmonton or Calgary, maybe even Dallas. Might be interested in him at 50% for cheap.

I think you might be overpaying alittle for Moose but I also think it would take a team to overpay to get him from the Wild. He is a great leader in the locker room, physical, good defensively and his contract isn't horrible for what he brings to the table.

If I was BG though I would probably take this deal.

Honestly I flipped back and forth between a third and second about 5 times. Everything you stated is why I would want him on my team and I would hope to extend him. Other things I thought of were making the second round pick conditional as of being the later between Dallas and Detroit and also Minnesota sending one of their 5th round picks back in 2024. Could also be a conditional third becomes a second if we make playoffs and he plays 50% of the regular season.

I don't hate the return but I feel like he could get a bit more. Something like a B prospect+ a younger cheap depth player that's not waiver exempt anymore. Is Velano waiver exempt after this season and what are the odds of him making the starting lineup next year?

Veleno I don't think will be waiver exempt. He will be on the roster most likely. Veleno has some things I like like his speed and potential but I'm not opposed to parting with him personally. He could still blossom which is why I was going to hold onto him. He actually was the original player I picked going back lol. I just look at the last two goalie trades we made, both were got a third. Neiderbach, although probably not living to his draft position, still has potential and I valued him at around a third. I went that route as Calgary I figured would want something back closer to contributing to the team than a pick. Again looking at those two goalie trades, Husso looked better but was a UFA, for a third. Nedeljkovic was a RFA, so not much different than Vladar having an extension, young and decent numbers. He got a third and they sent UFA rights.

Yes we are willing to pay a little bit but at the end of the day, what seperates Gudbranson and Myers? not much. The gudbranson deal is bad but that is the market, if we send him to ana at 2m retained, we should be getting an asset back for him, and should be able to be even for no asset

This also means you don't have to retain. Don't have to pay $5M in cash. So there is always that. I've had shot of Canucks fans after that a third coming with a fifth going back would be pretty fair value at the draft. I guess we will see though, not much reason for teams to help the Canucks out.

I think if a pick is coming back it would be something later than a 4th or 5th, but I think that FC would be most likely
