I feel like Florida will ride it out until a cap crunch comes apon them. Sure the cap savings rn would be nice but for every year they can delay a buyout that's 2 less years of that buyout which could be crucial in managing the team into the future.

The penalty is miniscule, its 1.6 for the 3 years after Bobs original contract is out. This team can compete so the savings are crucial. This is their window before Duclair, Verhaeghe, Lundell, Bennett, Montour, Knight, Forsling, and Ekblad need new contracts. Caps supposed to go up by a lot which will also help

Yeah but some teams may not want a 1.667m cap on the books for not having a player on their team. He has 4 years left at his cap including this year I'd say more than likely he'll have 1 or 2 years left for the cheaper buyout

I don't think Florida ever had a window, it came together one season and their GM mortgaged the future on that year's success, followed that up by hiring a bad coach and his terrible assistant, the future doesn't look too bright for this team imo.

Zito will have to absolutely nail free agency to turn this around.

They didn’t have their full team play until game 60 soemthing this year. Along with a new coaching scheme. This team should absolutely be in the playoffs otherwise. They’ve had soem real bad luck. Zito hasn’t been bad. The chariot trade was the worst thing he’s done. Maurice wasn’t the best hire I agree. But this team definitely has a window of competing and the future is very good. The core is all young. Just need one better dman and this team will be a 100 pint team again. All of sofla knew this year was gonna be tough with the cap issues.

I really don't see Edmonton giving up all those pieces for a Reinhart rental. Sam relies heavily on the PP to score and wouldn't get much PP time in Edmonton. At 5v5 he's actually scoring at about HALF the rate Foegele is. So this means Edmonton downgrades to a guy who costs them $500k more at the cost of a 1st, a 3rd and 2 NHL-ready prospects.

It's just not logical.

Reinhart v Foegele at 5v5
