Yeah Omar Khan who traded a massively underperforming overrated Claypool for essentially a 1st round pick is going to take massive L’s on trades if he was a gm for the hockey team.

Forget Omar Khan and all that junk up there. If Dope Morehouse had just hired Patrick Allvin the Pens would likely have McCann, Kuzmenko, and Matheson instead of Carter, Petry, and Rakell. Younger, faster, and much, much better.

If Boston were to do that you can keep Desmith. The picks will do.

How was Claypool massively underperforming or overrated?

And which of these trades are massive L's?

He was a 2nd round pick. A guy with his build and only had 1 game with the Steelers where he had more than 5 catches and more than 50 yards last year. He’s what? 6’4” and let a guy 6” shorter than him pick the ball off rather than make a play for his QB vs the jets. He looks more like a fire drill instructor than a WR because he more often than not stops, drops, and rolls, rather than being a threat. I don’t think it’s much of a coincidence that the steelers were 2-6 with him last year and the bears were 0-9 with him. And after the steelers traded him they went 7-2 down the stretch and the bears went from looking like a possible playoff dark horse to the number 1 pick.

As for the massive L’s. They just traded a 2nd for Granlund. Now they are going to retain on him and only get back a 4th? That’s just dumb.
Petry has been decent and is a PP option when Letang goes down. It’s silly to trade him for future considerations then pour salt in the wound by replacing him with Gudas.
While Rust has underperformed big time offensively, he still brings a lot all around. Now add a 3rd for an old goalie that will be a very expensive backup and Hartman. Not really a good deal for the pens.

Oh god not the "this one time a guy shorter than him broke up a pass" argument haha. Yes - a coincidence is exactly what that was. The Bears were literally the worst team in the league lol - had nothing to do with Claypool. Yeah - look at who the Steelers played haha - and they got Watt back. He averaged 60rec, 860yds, and 5TDs in his first two years in a middle of the road passing offense. What did you expect? The Claypool haters are just weird lol. He messed up the Vikings game and so everyone just said he sucks no matter what the numbers and his play actually say.

True - but we need to look at who the Granlund trade allows them to sign with that freed up money. Vrana and Hartman basically. Or Compher. I'm with you on the Petry trade, but again, you have to look at who they're signing with that money they saved. If you can trade a player to sign a player, it's still a good trade - even if you get nothing in return for that specific trade ya know?

No it wasn’t just one time. I simply gave you just one example. I didn’t simply find it necessary to write a book. The guy was a non factor. He cared more about social media than the game. And the bears weren’t the worst team in the league until they got him. They were 3-5 and even in most of their losses they were close.

The problem, like I said was that they used the cap space to get worse. They traded Petry and replaced him with Gudas. If they traded those players and got significantly better then that’s fine. But they were traded to replace them with similar type of players.

Non-factors don't average 60 catches 850 yards and 5 TDs in their first 2 season in the league. And that's my point though - people just didn't like him as a person. I get it - he annoyed me too. But that doesn't mean he was a bad player. Yeah - it was definitely Claypools fault they gave up 35 points a game.

I don't really like Gudas for Petry either - but Gudas is less than half Petry's cap hit though so that money was also used to help elsewhere. I don't think Gudas is better than Petry at all, but Gudas and Vrana for Petry is definitely an interesting swap and one that could help the team

The problem with your argument is that he wasn’t in his first two seasons. He was in his 3rd and he had less than 50 receptions, less than 500 yards in 15 games. In 8 games with the Steelers he had 300 something yards. I’m 7 with the bears he didn’t even have 150.

Well you first said Vrana was apart of the Granlund cap space. Now it’s of the Petry cap space too. Can’t really have it both ways. Either way though it’s not a good trade off. Petry brings things to the table that Gudas doesn’t. I wouldn’t want Gudas as my PP QB at all, much less if Letang gets hurt. The thing the pens lack from the back end is speed and offense. You aren’t getting any of that with Gudas. Not to mention it might be an overpayment on contract here. If this was trading Rutta and replacing him with Gudas then ok. Makes sense because Gudas gives you everything Rutta does plus physicality. This team isn’t much of an upgrade over what they already have.

There's no problem. I specifically said that's what he put up in his first two seasons lol. The Bears were 32nd in passing attempts and yards - not sure what kind of numbers you're expecting him to put up there. And the Steelers were abysmal passing too. Not to mention they put him in a new position where they never throw the ball. Nobody's calling him a superstar - but people acting like he was trash is just crazy

Yes - I did. And? Yes - you can lol.

Yeah, one for one I like Petry more than Gudas too. But Graves is better than Dumoulin and the forward group is clearly better.
