23-24 Baseline with Quinn at C

Created by: ashleyschaeffer
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2023
Published: Mar. 31, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I feel like he has scoring winger abilities but may be a better center. He’s good defensively, was good in a shutdown type role for team Canada once. I feel like his IQ and straight line speed make him more like Cozens than Peterka. With the wingers we have coming up, I feel like it’s worth a shot.

All of this about Quinn is true but I think he's already driving play pretty well from the wing that Im not sure its worth deviating from that. Tage was moved to centre cause he couldnt seem to get involved in thegame from the wing position. Quinn hasn't had that problem. If theyre suddenly loaded on wingers maybe, or perhaps on certain shifts.

Thompson grew up playing center, its why Granato put him there (he knew this from the USDT days). Quinn has always been a winger as far as I know, so making that jump can be tough at the NHL level.

I see Quinn as having a Mark Stone type potential.

Let Quinn stay at wing.

Is he better then Savoie though at C? I’d leave him right where he is with Cozens, he has a good shot and they’re a nice Line.

Not sure. I don’t know how Savoie’s game translates but I know what I see from Quinn. I’d say Quinn is a better option next year and would help stabilize a line and give Savoie time to acclimate.

I do think Quinn is a better scorer, so leave him L2 RW, and have Savoie compete for L3 C.
