Pearson and Poolman's careers are over. It won't cost anywhere near a 2nd. Look at what they got for taking 1.5 years of 8.25M in Voracek. Rathbone holds more value than a 6th round pick still.

While the 1 million is attractive to us, the 6 million is much more attractive to Vancouver. Voracek's $8.25M cap hit cost them whatever the prorated amount of $6.25M real dollars was this year and only $7.5M next year. Poolman's 2x$2.5M remaining comes with real salaries of $3M each season, and Pearson's single year of $3.25M comes with $4.25M in actual salary. They're not the type of cap dump deals that Arizona has typically taken on - Pearson might be a little more up their alley after his $1.5M bonus is paid, but that's it. I also think they would either prefer picks are younger players - every trade they've made where they've absorbed cap has either been for straight draft picks or included ELC level players (Nathan Smith, Vladislav Kolyachonok.)
